Besides, 84 vehicles have been impounded and 27 FIRs have been registered against the accused, said additional deputy commissioner (G) Viraj S Tidke on Wednesday.
Reviewing pending recoveries from previous years during a meeting, the ADC also ordered attachment of the accused’s properties to send a strong message to illegal sand miners.
Asking the mining department officials to keep a check on vehicles engaged in transporting illegally mined sand, the ADC said no one should be spared if found involved in the illegal activity. He ordered swift action on any complaint of illegal mining without fail.
The mining department official present in the meeting apprised the ADC of launch of three mining site in the district as “Tangri 1, 2 and 3” from Thursday.
Also present in the meeting were Dera Bassi SDM Himanshu Gupta, Mohali SDM Chandrajyoti Singh, chief minister field officer Inder Pal, district revenue officer Amandeep Chawla, assistant district mining officer Pardeep Kumar and tehsildars.
