2 held for robbery bid in Ludhiana, domestic help on the run
Hired four days ago without police verification, the domestic help hatched the robbery plan at the house in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana
Hired four days ago, a domestic help on Thursday allegedly attempted a robbery at his employer’s house in G-block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.

The owner, who was alone at the house at the time of the incident, noticed the accused in the CCTVs camera. She foiled the bid by locking the doors from inside and informed the neighbours, who nabbed the two of the accused.
The domestic help and four aides managed to escape. The Sarabha Nagar police lodged an FIR against the accused.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vinod Kumar and Shyam Nath of village Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The domestic help Raju and three unidentified accomplices remain at large.
The complainant Seema Agarwal said she noticed a group of men, carrying sharp edged weapons, barge into the house by overpowering the security guard in the CCTV feed at around 8.30pm on Saturday. She immediately locked the door of the house and raised the alarm by informing her neighbours.
The neighbours later gathered at her house and nabbed two of the accused. The accused stole the security guard’s mobile phone.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sulakhan Singh, who is investigating the case, said the arrested persons confessed that Raju, who was hired by the family, had hatched the plan for the robbery.
The ASI added that the complainant had failed to get a police verification done before hiring the accused. A case under sections 458 (house trespassing), 395 (dacoity), 398 (attempt to commit robbery, dacoity when armed with deadly weapons), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code has been lodged against the accused.
