2 held for vehicle-lifting, 3 stolen bikes recovered in Ludhiana
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code in Ludhiana
Two men were arrested for vehicle lifting, and three stolen bikes were recovered from them on Saturday.
The bike-borne accused were stopped for checking, and after they failed to produce documents establishing ownership of the two-wheeler, they confessed that the motorcycle had indeed been stolen in Ludhiana. (HT PHOTO)
The accused are Davinder Singh, 26, of Janta Colony of Gill village, and Love Kumar, 33, of Mandi Ahmedgarh, a labourer. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Randhir Singh, who is investigating the case, said the police arrested the accused near Bulara Road, after receiving a tip-off.
“The bike-borne accused were stopped for checking, and after they failed to produce documents establishing ownership of the two-wheeler, they confessed that the motorcycle had indeed been stolen. They also revealed the whereabouts of two other stolen bikes, which were also recovered,” he said, adding that the vehicles had been stolen from Dugri and Dehlon areas.
“The accused, who used old keys to steal the vehicles, said they wanted to sell the vehicles for easy money,” he said.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code. Davinder Singh is already facing trial for allegedly carrying out two burglaries.
