Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday said the Capital’s model of development will be the party’s main poll plank in Himachal Pradesh.

“This is for the first time that the AAP has registered a historic victory in assembly elections outside Delhi. Development was the main poll plank of the party,” he said while addressing mediapersons in Shimla.

“We fought the elections on the basic issues of healthcare, water and empowerment of women,” he said.

“Himachal Pradesh adjoins Punjab and we will go full throttle in the hill state,” Jain said.

“The AAP is also seeking feedback from common people. The public in Himachal is critical about healthcare. Not much has been done in the field of education as well,” he added.

“People in Himachal had been shuffling power between the Congress and the BJP, but we will provide an alternative. Arvind Kejriwal has given a new vision to the country that will be implemented here,” the AAP leader said.

Assuring that power, healthcare facilities, water and other basic amenities will be provided free of cost in HP, Jain said, “People of the state are fed up with the privileged leaders in both the Congress and the BJP.”

“Our main contest is with the BJP,” the Delhi minister said while responding to a query.

“There were elections in five states, but we focused mainly on Punjab, so will do in Himachal. People with clean image will be allocated tickets,” he added.

He parried questions on infighting among AAP members in Himachal. “Only the AAP has a mantra to defeat the BJP,” Jain said.
