Bodies of elderly couple, their son and daughter-in-law and two granddaughters recovered after neighbour informs police; suicide note recovered
In a shocking incident, six members of a family were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house at Balana village in Ambala district of Haryana on Friday morning.
Police recovered the bodies of Sangat Ram, 65, and his wife Mahindra Kaur besides their son Sukhwinder Singh, 34, and his wife Reena and their daughters Jassi, 8, and Ashu, 5, around 9am after one of the family’s neighbours informed them that nobody was responding to his knocking at their door.
Deputy superintendent of police Joginder Sharma said initial investigation showed that Sukhwinder, who worked in a private insurance company, strangulated his parents, wife and children before hanging himself.
The DSP confirmed that a suicide note has been recovered but did not divulge its details.
The bodies were taken for post-mortem, which is underway, to ascertain the cause of death.
Ambala superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said: “Several teams are at the spot and facts are being ascertained. Autopsies are being conducted.”
It is learnt that the family members had dinner together on Thursday night.
On August 17, six members of a family were found dead at their house in the Sidhra area of Jammu. A special investigating team of the J&K Police is probing the cause.
