4 held over snatching-bid, assaulting woman in CR Park

The Delhi Police have arrested two men and detained two others in connection with the assault and attempted chain snatching of a 40-year-old woman in Chittaranjan Park last Sunday, officials said.

The victim, a consultant working with the central government, was on her way to a cultural centre where her 11-year-old daughter was to perform when two motorcycle-borne men attempted to snatch her chain around 4pm. When she resisted, the men attacked her with a knife, leaving her with four to five stitches on her arm and facial abrasions, before fleeing. Her family alleged no bystanders intervened despite her screams.

Based on CCTV footage and technical surveillance, police arrested two men – a 46-year-old form and a 40-year-old from Rajasthan. Two others, including a Delhi-based jeweller, have been detained for allegedly aiding the accused. A case was registered under BNS sections 309(6) and 3(5).
