Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered an investigation into procurement irregularities in health services, following complaints against senior officials.

Chief minister Rekha Gupta has ordered an investigation into the alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the procurement of medicines and medical equipments through the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) under the Directorate of Health Services., officials said on Tuesday.

Officials said that the chief minister directed officials to ensure a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation and ordered regular monitoring of the case. (@BJP4Delhi)

Treating the allegations with “utmost seriousness”, Gupta has sought an inquiry under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, into complaints registered on June 2 against two senior health department officials, a senior Delhi government official said, adding that their role in the irregularities is being probed.

Officials said that the chief minister directed officials to ensure a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation and ordered regular monitoring of the case.

Earlier, the government had suspended three senior officials and one of them was arrested by the anti-corruption branch in connection with the case.

The probe pertains to allegations of serious irregularities in the purchase of medicines, surgical consumables and medical equipment, which allegedly caused losses to the government exchequer, officials said.
