Delhi logs 227.2mm of rain in August so far

Delhi received 227.2mm of rain in August, improving air quality. More light rain is forecasted over the weekend, with temperatures below 35°C.

New Delhi: Rain continued in the capital on Friday, with Delhi recording 227.2mm of rain in August so far.

The rain also improved the city’s air quality, with the daily average AQI recorded at 98, in the satisfactory category.

Between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Pusa recorded the highest rainfall at 30mm, followed by Chhatarpur (24.5mm), Narayana (10mm), and Palam (8.4mm). Mayur Vihar recorded 8 mm, followed by Ayanagar (7mm), Lodi Road (3.2mm), Janakpuri (3mm) and Delhi Ridge (1.8mm).

Safdarjung, Delhi’s base station for weather, recorded 5.8mm of rain during the same period, taking the city’s total rainfall in August to 226.6mm, against the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) long-period average of 233.1mm for the month.

The IMD has forecast multiple spells of very light to light rain on Saturday, with similar conditions expected from Sunday to Tuesday amid generally cloudy skies.No rain-related alerts have been issued for the coming days.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 30.5°C on Friday and is expected to remain below 35°C for the next six days.
