Delhi takes out Tiranga yatra in run up to I-Day celebrations

The main yatra, organised by the Delhi government as part of the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, began at India Gate and passed through Rafi Marg before culminating at Kartavya Path.

The national capital saw a series of Tiranga yatras on Wednesday as preparations for Independence Day gathered pace, with students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and political leaders taking part in marches across the capital.

The main yatra, organised by the Delhi government as part of the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, began at India Gate and passed through Rafi Marg before culminating at Kartavya Path. Chief minister Rekha Gupta, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin and Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra led the march, which was also attended by Delhi government ministers, young people and other citizens.

Gupta said Independence Day was an opportunity to remember the sacrifices of the freedom struggle, reflect on the country’s progress and renew commitments for the future. She urged Delhi residents to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and display the national flag at their homes.

Nabin said the campaign had evolved into a platform for public participation and an expression of national pride.

Tiranga yatras were also organised in south Delhi, Mehrauli, Mayur Vihar and Naveen Shahdara districts by Delhi BJP leaders. MPs, MLAs and party workers took part in the marches, which organisers said were aimed at commemorating freedom fighters and promoting national unity.
