Killer on the run for 15 years arrested in Delhi

The Delhi Police has arrested a man who had been evading arrest for 15 years in connection with the robbery and murder of a commission agent in east Delhi, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Naushad (37), carried a reward of ₹10,000 on his head. He was apprehended from near the Shastri Park flyover on Friday, police said.

According to officials, Naushad and his accomplices had targeted commission agent Atul Jain at Gandhi Nagar market in March 2011. Jain was returning home after collecting cash when the assailants robbed him at gunpoint and shot him dead, police added.

While the other accused were arrested soon after the incident, Naushad managed to flee and had been living in various cities to dodge the police, a senior officer said. He had returned to Delhi last week to meet a friend when an informer tipped off the police team, leading to his arrest, the officer added.
