The suspect Wasim allegedly fought with Mohammad Shahzad, the victim, over money while playing cards, police said
The Delhi Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Monday for allegedly killing a 38-year-old man on Saturday evening in Mulla Colony in east Delhi’s Ghazipur.

The suspect Wasim allegedly fought with Mohammad Shahzad, the victim, over money while playing cards, police said, adding Shahzad was later admitted to a hospital with a blunt injury to the left side of his face and a bleeding nose, but died during treatment.
Deputy commissioner of police (east) Amrutha Guguloth said that police received information on Saturday from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital that Shahzad was admitted by his brother. “The police immediately reached the spot, and found that the victim had a blunt injury on the left side of his face and was bleeding from the nose. He was referred to the senior resident surgeons in the hospital. While being shifted, he suddenly collapsed and died. The station house officer (SHO) of Ghazipur police station reached the hospital with the investigation officer of the case to collect the medico-legal certificates. A case under Section 304 (attempt to murder) of the IPC was registered at Ghazipur police station,” she said.
She added that during investigation, Shahzad’s brothers Suleman and Sultan alleged that Shahzad was assaulted by Wasim, a resident of the same colony. “At the instance of Suleman, police recovered some playing cards at the spot, which have been taken into possession. It was also revealed that the deceased and Wasim fought over money while playing cards. Police have arrested Wasim, who works as a waiter in a restaurant. He was previously involved in eight cases of snatching and theft,” she added.
