Two more arrested for murder of Amazon exec in northeast Delhi

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of an Amazon executive in a road rage incident in Delhi.

Two more suspects were arrested on Thursday for their alleged role in the murder of an Amazon executive in an incident of road rage in Bhajanpura in northeast Delhi, police said on Friday.

In the latest arrests, police said Sohail (only identified by his first name) and Mohammad Junaid, both aged 23, were apprehended on Thursday night from Burari in north Delhi. With these arrests, police said they have nabbed four of the five suspects.

“They were arrested while they were trying to escape to Punjab,” said deputy commissioner of police (northeast) Joy Tirkey.

On Tuesday night, 36-year-old Harpreet Gill, who worked as a senior manager for e-commerce firm Amazon, was shot dead following an argument with the five suspects.

Police on Thursday ascertained that the murder took place following an altercation between the suspects, and Gill and his relative Govind Singh, 32, when both sides were trying to enter a narrow bylane of Bhajanpura on their respective bikes. Singh was injured with a gunshot wound to his head.

“Singh was discharged from hospital on Friday and is recuperating at home. He is helping us with our investigation,” said DCP Tirkey.

A day earlier, Mohammad Sameer alias Maya, and Bilal Gani, both aged 18, were arrested in the case.

The fifth suspect, 19-year-old Adnan — also identified by his first name — is on the run, police said.

Police said that Maya, who was allegedly involved in four murders as a minor, opened fire during the confrontation on Tuesday night.
