Four persons injured after two cars collide on Delhi-Mumbai e-way

Four persons, including a Gurugram-based doctor and his three women friends, were injured when their car was hit by another vehicle on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, police said on Thursday.

Police said the incident took place near Daula village in Sohna at about 8am on Tuesday.

Investigators said the injured persons were travelling in a Hyundai Venue and were identified as Dr Shubham Sehrawat (28), who was driving the car and his friends Priyanka Kulbhashi, Kashika Grover and Shelley.

Sehrawat managed to crawl out of the mangled car and pulled out Kulbhashi, who was sitting in the front row along with Shelley and Grover who were in the rear seat. Police said all of them were wearing seat belts due to which their lives were saved.

Police said the suspect driver Naresh Kumar (25), was driving a Maruti Baleno and was also injured in the accident. He was later arrested.

Investigators said Sehrawat had alerted the police control room about the accident and an ambulance was rushed to the spot.

They added that Grover’s condition was serious as she had sustained severe head injuries and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sector 38.

Inspector Santosh Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Sadar Sohna police station said, “During interrogation, the suspect driver told us that he was in a hurry to return home to Palwal after meeting a friend in Gurugram”.

On Sehrawat’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the suspect under Section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt to any person by doing any act rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of ₹50 or above) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sadar Sohna police station on Tuesday, said police.
