The 150-square-yard property was allegedly built on encroached land using proceeds of crime and was being used by Chaudhary’s syndicate for organised criminal activities and to collect unlawful rent, investigators said.

Police said the demolition was led by the Manesar unit of the crime branch in coordination with concerned civic departments. Earthmoving machines were used to raze the structure and clear the encroached land, while heavy police deployment was made to prevent any untoward incident.

A notice was sent to residents last week by the district magistrate, directing them to vacate the premises before the demolition, police said.

Chaudhary, a history-sheeter, has more than six dozen criminal cases registered against him in Gurugram, including murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act violations.

“Based on credible intelligence inputs, the illegal construction was identified and completely demolished. The property was used for the operation and expansion of organised criminal networks,” said Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Turan, adding that such targeted operations against criminals’ financial lifelines will continue across the district.
