Alwar case: Teen girl thrown onto a bridge by two men, claims victim’s father
The girl’s father, not satisfied with the probe into the Alwar assault case, alleged that officials said the family will get more money on accepting it as a case of accident

JAIPUR: A 16-year-old girl with mental illness, who was found in a distressed condition in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, said that she was thrown onto a bridge by two men, her father has now claimed.
Not satisfied with the probe into the issue that was initially treated by the police as a case of possible rape, the girl’s father alleged that officials said the family will get money if they accept that it was only a case of accident.
On January 11, the girl, who had gone missing, was found in a distressed state late evening on a bridge in Alwar. She was later admitted to JK Lone hospital in Jaipur, where she underwent a surgery.
Due to growing resentment over the sensitive case, the state government has decided to hand over the inquiry to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Addressing news persons on Monday, her father said the girl didn’t share anything for 10-15 days, but lately, for the last 4-5 days, she is conveying through gestures that “do bhai”, or two brothers, threw her on the bridge.
“Through gestures, she is saying that she was thrown on the bridge. She is also repeatedly saying ‘do bhai’. However, she could not communicate whether any vehicle was involved,” said the father. “The police are forcing us to accept that it was a case of accident. We are afraid. We only want justice.”
He alleged that officials said the family will get more money on accepting it as a case of accident.
He said when the girl was taken to a local hospital, doctors said it looked like a rape case and referred her to JK Lone hospital in Jaipur. “Now, the police officers are asking us to accept it as an accident. We are not satisfied with the police theory. We have not been given the details of the FSL (forensic science lab) report,” he said.
Questioning the probe, he said if his daughter was hit by a vehicle, then she would have received injuries on other parts of her body. “Doesn’t this indicate [there was] a serious crime? The police are changing statements. Initially, it was called rape, and now accident,” he said. “We want CBI to investigate the case.”
The police initially suspected it was a case of rape, but later, based on a medical report, the superintendent of police (SP) ruled out the possibility of rape and suggested the likelihood of an accident.
Commenting on the father’s charges, superintendent of police Tejaswani Gautam refuted the allegations and said no such offer was extended to the girl’s family.
Calling the charges baseless, district collector Nannu Mal Pahadia said, “No such assurance related to land was given to the family. I don’t even have the power to allot land.”
