Anti-incumbency to increase against Gehlot after polls results in 5 states: BJP
BJP leader Arun Singh said chief minister Ashok Gehlot makes promises daily but nobody knows how will he keep them given the fund crunch
JAIPUR: Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh has said the anti-incumbency against the state’s Congress government will intensify after the results of five states are announced. He added the countdown for its end has started.
Singh said chief minister Ashok Gehlot makes promises daily but nobody knows how will he keep them given the fund crunch. He added the government could not provide 60,000 jobs but now talks about 250,000 jobs. Singh said the government was formed on the basis of false announcements and the promises have not been fulfilled.
Singh said law and order rules in BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh but its “jungle-raj” in Rajasthan. “If the governance of the Gehlot government is compared with that of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, he would not even get pass marks,” said Singh on Wednesday.
Singh said the BJP is confident of winning assembly elections in four of the five states. He added Congress will not get even five seats in Uttar Pradesh. “It [BJP] will win more than 300 seats in Uttar Pradesh and increase its vote share in Punjab.”
Replying to a question on former chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s show of strength on her birthday, Singh said there should be no objection if someone celebrates. “...but... the party is supreme and the individual comes later. Everyone should take care of it.” He added they have taken note of statements of Raje’s loyalists. “We will take appropriate action against those weakening the party. They will not get a second chance.”
Singh said there is no such demand of projecting Raje as the chief ministerial candidate. “...this is to be decided by the parliamentary board of the party. Workers should not make such demands as it can harm their leader.” Singh appreciated the revival of the pension scheme in the state
Congress minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas criticised Singh for making baseless statements.
