Man kills wife over black magic suspicion in Dharavi
The accused, Amrut Megh Solanki, allegedly strangled his wife Surajben, 52, and struck her with a broken bottle during an argument at their home in Dharavi Koliwada. Police said Solanki believed his wife had cast a spell on him because of which his sons had stopped listening to him.
The couple lived with their four sons Shivram, 33, Ravi, 30, Karan, 27, and Kishan, 24.
After the attack, Solanki allegedly made a video call to Shivram, during which he was seen covered in blood while the victim lay injured on the floor. Shivram, who works in Mulund, rushed to the house with other family members.
“She was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead,” a police officer said.
Police said Solanki often argued with his wife over his suspicion that she had performed black magic and had warned his sons not to interfere in their disputes.
The Dharavi police have arrested Solanki and registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
