Noida: Man beaten by former politician, Hindi poet Kumar Vishwas' security detail
A passerby aiding in a car crash outside Kumar Vishwas's home was assaulted by CISF officers. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
A Volvo car and a Volkswagen Polo car collided outside former politician Kumar Vishwas’s home in Noida Sector 30 on Wednesday night, and a 34-year-old passerby who stopped to help the road accident victims was assaulted by two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officers in Vishwas’s security detail, police said on Thursday.

A 38-second footage of the incidentrecorded by another passerby was widely shared on social media. The Noida Police said they have booked unidentified suspects for assault and are planning to send a notice to CISF.
“At 9.30 pm, a Haryana-registered car that was going towards Sector 37 from Shashi Chowk collided with another Haryana-registered car heading in the same direction from Sector 31 outside Vishwas’s bungalow near the traffic signal intersection,” said a senior officer from the Noida Sector 20 police station, requesting anonymity.
“When both car drivers were arguing, Shyam Sundar, a resident of Nithari who was passing by on his Honda Activa scooter, saw what happened and halted. Then two plainclothes security guards deputed to Vishwas’s security detail arrived and directed Sundar to leave. Thinking the security guards were civilians, Sundar refused, and the issue escalated, and the officers assaulted him,” the officer added.
Sundar told HT, “I left home in Sector 40 to buy medicine for my wife. While returning I saw two cars — a red Volvo and a white Volkswagen Polo —damaged and halted on the road, and the airbags of theVolvo were deployed. Thinking it was a serious accident; I stopped to check and to help the injured. When I was standing close to the spot, a man wearing a blue t-shirt came and directed me to leave. I told him that I was just checking on the accident, and he got angry.”
“As I was about to leave, another man wearing a t-shirt approached, snatched my scooter keys and punched and kicked me. I spotted a CISF officer in uniform outside Vishwas’ bungalow and went to him for help. But he told me that the two men who assaulted me were also police officers. I snatched back my scooter keys from their hands and somehow managed to escape,” added Sundar.
Police said that according to their investigation, Sundar misbehaved with the CISF officers when they asked him to leave the scene.
The 38-second video shows two men repeatedly slapping and kicking a man who is wearing a helmet. The victim rushes towards the police booth located outside Vishwas’ bungalow and the video ends.
Locals called the Noida Police on the emergency helpline number 112 and a team rushed to the spot and tracked down Sundar with the help of his scooter’s registration number which they got from photos and videos recorded by locals and passersby.
As the video circulated on social media, the Noida assistant commissioner of police took cognizance and by late Thursday evening a case was registered at the Sector 20 police station. “We have registered a case under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unidentified suspects at Sector 20 police station. The security forces posted at Vishwas’ bungalow are from CISF, and we are also sending a notice to their department,” said Ram Badan Singh, deputy commissioner of police, Noida. He added that no arrest has been made yet and further investigation is underway.
The DCP added that both car drivers left the scene without submitting any complaint.
