GORAKHPUR Accused of amassing assets disproportional to his income, Magadh University vice-chancellor Professor Rajendra Prasad continues to be at large. On Monday, members of the special victims unit team from Mumbai conducted a search at this Gorakhpur-based house but he was not found there.

A native of Gorakhpur, the accused professor used to teach at DDU University before being appointed as the V-C of Magadh University in Bihar. In November 2021, police had raided his house in connection with the case relating to disproportional assets and found ₹3 crore in cash from his room. Police also traced out properties worth ₹30 crore in his and his wife’s name.
Subsequently, Professor Prasad moved a bail application in the Supreme Court but it was rejected. Despite repeated summons, he did not appear before court as well. Since then, the special victims unit team of police department, along with the U.P. police, is tracing him.
