Mahesh Devendra Gowda, 60, of Chrysalis Society in Wagholi lodged the complaint at Dighi Police Station on January 10.

According to the police, the incident was detected at around 10 am on January 9. The accused, Milind Govind Asmar, 57, of Prathamesh Apartment in Shivtirthnagar, Kothrud, changed the password of the college’s website without authorisation triggering the suspension of its services and causing inconvenience and losses to the college and students.

Police said Asmar had earlier submitted an application to the college administration demanding a salary hike for IT department staff and payment of three months’ salary to employees who had remained absent. However, the administration rejected the demands. As Asmar himself had reportedly been absent for the past three months, his salary for that period was withheld.

Angered by this, he allegedly took the drastic step and later told the college authorities that he would not restore the systems unless all his demands were met.
