The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested a 26-year-old man and seized a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from his possession during a patrol operation in Bibwewadi.

The accused has been identified as Vishal Prahlad Kalavale of Dnyaneshwari Heights near Mahananda Dairy in Bhilarewadi.

According to the police, acting on a tip-off, a patrol team detained a man near Mahananda Dairy and seized a country-made pistol valued at ₹50,000 and a live cartridge worth ₹1,000 from his possession on July 29.

Mansingh Patil, senior inspector, Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, said, “The accused worked as a labourer.”

A case has been registered against him under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act and Sections 37(1)(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
