PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad police anti-narcotics cell on Thursday arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized contraband and other valuables collectively worth ₹57.73 lakh.

Acting on suspicion, police intercepted and searched the suspects near Ruby Bakery at Khandoba Mala in Chakan and recovered 83.960 kilograms of ganja valued at ₹41.98 lakh from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aniket Rajendra Birangal, 24, of Khandoba Mala, Chakan; and Kushal Uddhav Pathak, 24, of Shivsainagar, Kothrud, Pune.

Apart from the narcotic substance, police also seized three mobile phones worth ₹75,000, cash of ₹510, and a Scorpio vehicle valued at ₹15 lakh. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹57,73,510.

Chakan Police Station has filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
