PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad police anti-narcotics cell on Thursday arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized contraband and other valuables collectively worth 57.73 lakh.

Acting on suspicion, police intercepted and searched the suspects near Ruby Bakery at Khandoba Mala in Chakan and recovered 83.960 kilograms of ganja valued at 41.98 lakh from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aniket Rajendra Birangal, 24, of Khandoba Mala, Chakan; and Kushal Uddhav Pathak, 24, of Shivsainagar, Kothrud, Pune.

Apart from the narcotic substance, police also seized three mobile phones worth 75,000, cash of 510, and a Scorpio vehicle valued at 15 lakh. The total value of the seized property is estimated at 57,73,510.

Chakan Police Station has filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
