Timely CPR by health team saves devotee’s life

A health team deployed for the Ashadhi Wari administered timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when the warkari (devotee) suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during the pilgrimage, officials said on Sunday.

According to the Pune district health administration, the emergency occurred on Saturday at around 7 pm in the Dive Ghat area while the warkari was participating in the annual pilgrimage. The community health officer from the Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Dive, along with the accompanying health team, immediately responded and began CPR before shifting the patient to a nearby medical facility for advanced treatment.

“The health team acted without losing a moment. Timely CPR and immediate referral for advanced treatment played a crucial role in saving the pilgrim’s life. The incident highlights the preparedness of our medical teams deployed along the Wari route,” said Dr Ramchandra Hankare, district health officer.
