Prasidh Krishna already cranking it up

Starts gingerly with a ball bowled at 126 kmph, but by the time the fourth ball was bowled, Krishna had already hit the 140s. Just a single in the over, off the final ball. England 4/0 after 2 overs

Mar 26, 2021, 17:52:14 IST

Bhuvneshwar begins well

Good over from Bhuvneshwar. Just 3 runs from it. Good start from India. Roy off the mark with a couple of runs and takes a single to go with it. Bairstow yet to open his account.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:47:07 IST

England openers out to chase

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are in the middle to open the innings. India start the attack with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

KL Rahul speaks after the match

KL Rahul: "It was a hot day and it was important for us to get a partnership. Really happy with what we have achieved after 50 overs. Scoring runs makes you confident, and that's what you want to do. I was disappointed after the T20 series, but that's how the game goes. Few quality shots eased my nerves. Really happy I was able to build those partnerships with Virat and Rishabh. It (the celebration) is just to shut out the noise, not to disrespect anyone. There are people out there who try to pull you down, at times you need to neglect them. So that's just a message to shut out that noise. When me and Virat were batting, we needed anything around 300, so happy with this total."

End of innings! India post 336/6

A couple of runs to finish the innings for India. Topley gives away just nine runs - 13 in his last three - as India finish on 336/6 from 50 overs. This is the fifth time India have posted more than a 100 runs between overs 41 and 50. Just a testament to how strong this middle order is.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:18:28 IST

OUT! Topley gets Pandya

Goes for the big hit but holes out at long off where Roy takes a fine catch. Hardik perishes for a 16-ball 35.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:17:39 IST

Topley to Hardik: FOUR

Topley tries to send the yorker outside off but misses it by a whisker. Hardik connects and sends the ball crashing through the fielder at cover for another four. Two balls left in the innings.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:13:09 IST

Curran to Krunal: Smashed for FOUR

Short ball outside off and Krunal drills it on the up. One bounce and the ball fires into the advertising boards. Ruthless power from the Pandya brothers. Curran follows it with a wide. 14 off the penultimate over of the innings as India reach 327/5 with one over to go.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:11:16 IST

Curran to Hardik: SIX

Slower ball from Tom Curran, a leg cutter but Hardik picks it well and muscles it over long on. Right in the slot and Hardik takes full toll. He's smashed 4 sixes off 13 balls. Magnificent!

Mar 26, 2021, 17:09:10 IST

Just 4 runs in the 40th over

Brilliant over by Reece Topley under pressure. India 313/5 with two overs to go. The situation is ideal for Hardik and Krunal Pandya to do what they've done for the Mumbai Indian over the last so many years. Surely, they would be eyeing 350.

Mar 26, 2021, 17:06:19 IST

WICKET! Pant holes out

Sorry, there won't be a maiden ODI century for Rishabh Pant as he top edges Tom Curran to Jason Roy at third man. The umpires referred the catch although the soft signal was out, but replays showed that Roy had completed a rather clean catch to send Pant back. For a moment there, Pant looked set to register the fastest century by an India batsman in ODIs, but it wasn't to be. None the less, he's done the job. India 309/4 after 47 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:56:02 IST

Scintillating start from Hardik Pandya

A six off the first ball for Hardik. Doesn't get better than that, does it? To add to England's woes, there is no stopping Pant either as he smacks his sixth six of the innings. Sam Curran misses a yorker and gets tonked for another six from Pandya. Three sixes in the over already as India collect 21 off it. India 294/4 with four overs remaining.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:50:17 IST

OUT! India lose KL Rahul

OUT! KL Rahul holes out in the deep for 108. Tom Curran gets the wicket as Topley completes the catch.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:41:25 IST

Century for KL Rahul

A hundred for KL Rahul, his 5th in ODIs. What a moment for him! He's been under a lot of pressure, with people questioning his place in India's Playing XI. But Kohli and the team management's faith has finally paid off. With six overs left, who knows? Rahul can get his highest individual score in ODIs with ease, which at the moment is 112. India 267/3 in 44 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:34:49 IST

A blazing half-century for Rishabh Pant

Wait! Didn't he just come to bat? Well, that's what it looks like. It's taken Rishabh Pant just 28 balls to register his second ODI fifty. He's played some tremendous shots and the outcome has been remarkable. What a time for this knock to come for him... when India are one win away from sealing the series. Then again, it's been a shiny few months for the youngster. India 247/3 in 42 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:30:59 IST

Pant survives... again

Alright there! What's happening here? Two wrong decisions by the umpire towards Pant have been reversed courtesy the DRS. This time. it's a caught behind chance. Pant goes for the pull and the ball lobs off something to enter Buttler's gloves. He instantly went for the review and the replay showed the ball hitting his left hand.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:29:13 IST

KL Rahul enters the 90s

A six and a four to begin Tom Curran's seventh and England's 42nd over. Clubs the ball over long off comfortably and swivels to pull the next towards deep backward square leg. He's on 97. He's one strike away from his big moment.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:25:18 IST

Stokes to Pant: 6, 4, 6

Rishabh Pant is turning it on here in Pune. Six, Four and a SIX off consecutive balls bowled by Ben Stokes. England under severe pressure as the run-rate spikes to almost 5.5 an over. The partnership has reached 67 off 54 as India get to 225/3 with nine overs to go.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:21:43 IST

Pant survives

Tom Curran seemingly had Rishabh Pant out LBW. He premeditated a reverse sweep to a fuller ball, which hit something before going for a boundary. England appealed for an LBW and Pant was given out. But the batsman went for the review immediately and as is turned out, the ball clearly went behind after hitting the bat and not the pads or boots.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:14:50 IST

FOUR more to Pant

The left-hander is finally hitting the groove. Finishes the over from Topley with a four. Sets himself up for the pull shot and Pant drills the ball on the leg side for his second boundary-hitting shot. India have shown their intent in the last couple of overs. Surely, they're going to go after the bowling from here on.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:10:11 IST

Rashid to Pant: SIX

Pant launches the leg-spinner to end his quota of 10 overs. Tried it earlier in the over but it didn't work. This time around though, Pant got right to the pitch of the ball and hammered it over long on. Perfect slog sweep with the desired result. India 194/3 after 38 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:07:30 IST

Pant miscues

But no damage done for India. Rashid tries to fox Pant with the wrong one and it almost works. Pant, having been there for 13 balls now, tried to go for the big heave but didn't middle it well enough. And as a result, the ball carried to the fielder at long-on on one bounce.

Mar 26, 2021, 16:03:51 IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score: Topley to Rahul: FOUR

Short ball from Topley, and Rahul, on 70-odd is not going to miss out on that. Swivels across the stumps and brings out the rollicking pull shot, almost send the ball over the ropes. Is that the first sign of India's pending charge?

Mar 26, 2021, 16:02:02 IST

Topley returns, what can he conjure?

We enter the final 15-over phase of India's innings, a very crucial passage of play. Is this the time India for India to go for the kill? Rahul is set, but he has been joined by Rishabh Pant, whom we all know can inflict serious damage. Rahul should certainly be the anchor from here on, while the rest of the batsmen should switch gears for India.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:58:04 IST

Meanwhile, Kohli the batsman adds another feather in his cap

The India captain, with his knock of 66, has surpassed former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith to become the fifth-highest run-getter as captain in ODIs. Kohli overtook Smith's tally of 5416 runs and is now behind Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming and Arjuna Ranatunga. What a star-studded list this is.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:53:27 IST

Moeen Ali bowls 10 overs in a row

Wow! How often do you see that? 10 overs in a go from Moeen Ali and he hasn't fared too badly. 47 runs without a wicket. Good effort from the England all-rounder.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:48:33 IST

Crunched for FOUR!

Misfield from England, Ben Stokes off all people and it allows Rahul to get himself a boundary. He thumped a delivery from Moeen Ali straight to Stokes, who surprisingly, was perhaps anticipating a catch, or what? Only he knows. Makes a total mess of it. India 169/3 after 34 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:41:46 IST

OUT! Kohli departs, the wait for a century grows

Virat Kohli edges Adil Rashid to Jos Buttler and falls for 66. The century drought extends. The India captain tried to run the ball down to third man, but opened the face of his bat which did the trick for Rashid. A decent edge and this time Buttler makes no mistake. England get a much-needed breakthrough. India 158/3.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:38:48 IST

Rashid to Rahul: SIX

Down the wicket he goes and with the help of the lovely bat swing which he generates, connects the ball from the middle to launch it into the empty stands over long-on.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:32:57 IST

Half-century for KL Rahul

After Kohli, it's Rahul's turn to raise his bat. He's played equally well and his role in this partnership has been as crucial as his skipper. Back-to-back half-centuries for him, following the unbeaten 62 in the series opener. No wonder Kohli and the management backs Rahul. Too good a batsman not to.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:30:10 IST

100-run partnership between Rahul and Kohli

This stand continues to go from strength to strength. Kohli and Rahul came together when India's score was 37/2, but from there have appeared in no real discomfort. This partnership has set the platform for India, who should go after the bowling in another 10 overs from now. After 29 overs, the score is 139/2.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:24:32 IST

Kohli gets to FIFTY

What consistency this from the Indian captain. He gets to his fifth half-century in the last six international innings. His 62nd in ODIs, which comes off 62 balls. Now the big question. Can this be transformed into a hundred that has eluded him for over 500 days?

Mar 26, 2021, 15:20:48 IST

Rashid to Rahul: Cut for FOUR!

Rashid tries to fix Rahul with a googly, but the ball was too short in length. Ample time for a set Rahul to rock back on to the back foot and cut the ball between Sam Curran and Moeen Ali for a four. Rashid not pleased with that effort. The partnership has now reached 85 off 106 balls.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:19:13 IST

England need to find a way to break this partnership

The last few overs have been rather easy going for Rahul and Kohli. England showing no signs of attack here. The field is spread out making it no task whatsoever for Kohli and Rahul to collect singles and twos. This is where Morgan is being missed perhaps? None the less, Kohli approaching his half-century. India 112/2 after 25 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:09:20 IST

DROPPED! Buttler puts down Kohli

Oh dear! A missed opportunity for England as Jos Buttler drops Virat Kohli. The India captain went for a booming drive, getting the outside edge as the ball turns away. Buttler's gloves closed even before the ball reached him. Hands on heads all around. How costly will this prove to be? Meanwhile, the 100 comes up for India.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:07:37 IST

As are we, RP. As are we

RP Singh's thoughts are bang on. As of this moment, the situation seems to be turning our perfectly for India's middle order hitters.

Mar 26, 2021, 15:00:55 IST

FOUR! Glorious from Rahul

What a way to bring up the 50-run partnership. Adil Rashid comes into the attack and bowls a loopy delivery on off stump. Rahul gets into position to caress a beautiful cover drive between long on and sweeper cover. Terrific stuff this. A seven-run over takes India to 90/2 after 20 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:58:36 IST

Kohli, Rahul milking singles

Perfect time to make sure the runs keep coming while keeping an eye out on the run rate. India are scoring at 4.3 an over, with six runs coming off the last over. Rahul is batting on 20 and Kohli moves to 31. Good period this for India. If they can continue this for another 10 overs, expect some explosive batting in the third Powerplay. India 83/2 in 19 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:55:04 IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score, 2nd ODI: Curran bowls a tidy over

Just two singles off it as India reach 77/2. The partnership between Kohli and Rahul has reached 42 off 56 balls and although it's been more than three overs without a boundary, India won't mind this. Rahul and Kohli continue to bat themselves into this match.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:48:20 IST

First signs of spin in the match

Moeen Ali into the attack... in the 17th over. It was inevitable given how India have scored at over 6 an over in the last four overs. Kohli and Rahul are starting to settle down and England can sense it. Won't be surprising to see Adil Rashid coming from the other end. Three runs off the over as India get to 75/2 after 17 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:46:42 IST

A quick 15-over summary

After they were put to bat, India lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma without much on the board, and the dismissal of Sharma would rather pinch India given how he was just beginning to set himself up with three fours in an over. At 37/2, India looked to be in a bit of a spot and one more wicket could have proved dangerous, but thankfully for India and their fans, captain Virat Kohli and No. 4 batsman KL Rahul took over nicely to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:41:44 IST

Kohli warned for running on the danger area

Kohli takes a single but accidentally takes off running on the danger area before changing his direction. Umpire Virender Sharma is quick to take notice and brings it to the Indian captain's attention. Not the first time this has happened. In the Test series, Kohli was warned by umpire Nitin Menon for the same offence. India 72/2 after 16 overs as drinks are called on to the field.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:35:52 IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score - Stokes to Rahul: FOUR!

A perfect yorker from Stokes pitches almost just an inch outside off. But Raul gets his bat down right in time and squeezes the ball between the wicketkeeper and first slip to bring himself a four. Nothing wrong with the ball, just intelligent piece of thinking from Rahul. They don't call it a batsman's game for no reason. Good over for India as 10 come off it. They move to 66/2 in 15 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:31:59 IST

Streaky, but Kohli gets a FOUR

Inside edge and the ball races away to the boundary. Kohli comes down the wicket to Curran, but the ball jags back in after pitching almost squaring up the India captain. Tries to get the bat down in time but the ball kisses the inside edge of the big MRF and India collect another boundary.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:27:05 IST

Stokes to Rahul: In the air...

Stokes appears to be troubling both Kohli and Rahul at the moment. Digs in the bouncer and Rahul plays the aerial pull, which came from nowhere close to the middle of his bat. The ball lands in the vacant square-leg region but a single completed.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:24:37 IST

Rahul opens the face of the bat...

A slightly nervy drive that one from Rahul. The bat turns a bit in his hand and the ball hits the bottom of his bat and rolls down to third man. Slightly uppish but no harm done. Tom Curran pulls things back with a good over giving away just two runs. India 47/2 after 12.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:20:14 IST

Stokes testing Kohli

11 overs bowled and India reach 45/2. Ben Stokes into the attack and four runs are scored off his first. India cash in on an overthrow opportunity and complete a second run after a throw from Adil Rashid hits the stumps and rolls on behind the keeper.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:15:11 IST

FOUR! Second boundary to Kohli

Sam's brother, Tom Curran introduced in the attack and he gets a warm welcome from Virat Kohli as the India captain drives between mid on and extra cover to score his second boundary. A gentle half-volley to begin things for Curran, but follows it up with five very good balls. India 41/2 after 10 overs.

Mar 26, 2021, 14:11:33 IST

WICKET! Rohit perishes...

...in perhaps the most unlucky manner. The ball from Curran was sliding down leg but Rohit unfortunately flicked the ball to Adil Rashid, who takes a brilliant catch inside the circle at fine leg. Perhaps that is the line they were experimenting with and the move has finally paid off. India 37/2 in the 9th over. Big, big wicket for England. Rohit was batting like a million bucks.
