India vs England Highlights, 2nd ODI: England beat India by six wickets to level series 1-1

The India captain, with his knock of 66, has surpassed former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith to become the fifth-highest run-getter as captain in ODIs. Kohli overtook Smith's tally of 5416 runs and is now behind Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming and Arjuna Ranatunga. What a star-studded list this is.

Wow! How often do you see that? 10 overs in a go from Moeen Ali and he hasn't fared too badly. 47 runs without a wicket. Good effort from the England all-rounder.

Misfield from England, Ben Stokes off all people and it allows Rahul to get himself a boundary. He thumped a delivery from Moeen Ali straight to Stokes, who surprisingly, was perhaps anticipating a catch, or what? Only he knows. Makes a total mess of it. India 169/3 after 34 overs.

Virat Kohli edges Adil Rashid to Jos Buttler and falls for 66. The century drought extends. The India captain tried to run the ball down to third man, but opened the face of his bat which did the trick for Rashid. A decent edge and this time Buttler makes no mistake. England get a much-needed breakthrough. India 158/3.

Down the wicket he goes and with the help of the lovely bat swing which he generates, connects the ball from the middle to launch it into the empty stands over long-on.

After Kohli, it's Rahul's turn to raise his bat. He's played equally well and his role in this partnership has been as crucial as his skipper. Back-to-back half-centuries for him, following the unbeaten 62 in the series opener. No wonder Kohli and the management backs Rahul. Too good a batsman not to.

This stand continues to go from strength to strength. Kohli and Rahul came together when India's score was 37/2, but from there have appeared in no real discomfort. This partnership has set the platform for India, who should go after the bowling in another 10 overs from now. After 29 overs, the score is 139/2.

What consistency this from the Indian captain. He gets to his fifth half-century in the last six international innings. His 62nd in ODIs, which comes off 62 balls. Now the big question. Can this be transformed into a hundred that has eluded him for over 500 days?

Rashid tries to fix Rahul with a googly, but the ball was too short in length. Ample time for a set Rahul to rock back on to the back foot and cut the ball between Sam Curran and Moeen Ali for a four. Rashid not pleased with that effort. The partnership has now reached 85 off 106 balls.

The last few overs have been rather easy going for Rahul and Kohli. England showing no signs of attack here. The field is spread out making it no task whatsoever for Kohli and Rahul to collect singles and twos. This is where Morgan is being missed perhaps? None the less, Kohli approaching his half-century. India 112/2 after 25 overs.

Oh dear! A missed opportunity for England as Jos Buttler drops Virat Kohli. The India captain went for a booming drive, getting the outside edge as the ball turns away. Buttler's gloves closed even before the ball reached him. Hands on heads all around. How costly will this prove to be? Meanwhile, the 100 comes up for India.

RP Singh's thoughts are bang on. As of this moment, the situation seems to be turning our perfectly for India's middle order hitters.

What a way to bring up the 50-run partnership. Adil Rashid comes into the attack and bowls a loopy delivery on off stump. Rahul gets into position to caress a beautiful cover drive between long on and sweeper cover. Terrific stuff this. A seven-run over takes India to 90/2 after 20 overs.

Perfect time to make sure the runs keep coming while keeping an eye out on the run rate. India are scoring at 4.3 an over, with six runs coming off the last over. Rahul is batting on 20 and Kohli moves to 31. Good period this for India. If they can continue this for another 10 overs, expect some explosive batting in the third Powerplay. India 83/2 in 19 overs.

Just two singles off it as India reach 77/2. The partnership between Kohli and Rahul has reached 42 off 56 balls and although it's been more than three overs without a boundary, India won't mind this. Rahul and Kohli continue to bat themselves into this match.

Moeen Ali into the attack... in the 17th over. It was inevitable given how India have scored at over 6 an over in the last four overs. Kohli and Rahul are starting to settle down and England can sense it. Won't be surprising to see Adil Rashid coming from the other end. Three runs off the over as India get to 75/2 after 17 overs.

After they were put to bat, India lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma without much on the board, and the dismissal of Sharma would rather pinch India given how he was just beginning to set himself up with three fours in an over. At 37/2, India looked to be in a bit of a spot and one more wicket could have proved dangerous, but thankfully for India and their fans, captain Virat Kohli and No. 4 batsman KL Rahul took over nicely to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Kohli takes a single but accidentally takes off running on the danger area before changing his direction. Umpire Virender Sharma is quick to take notice and brings it to the Indian captain's attention. Not the first time this has happened. In the Test series, Kohli was warned by umpire Nitin Menon for the same offence. India 72/2 after 16 overs as drinks are called on to the field.

A perfect yorker from Stokes pitches almost just an inch outside off. But Raul gets his bat down right in time and squeezes the ball between the wicketkeeper and first slip to bring himself a four. Nothing wrong with the ball, just intelligent piece of thinking from Rahul. They don't call it a batsman's game for no reason. Good over for India as 10 come off it. They move to 66/2 in 15 overs.

Inside edge and the ball races away to the boundary. Kohli comes down the wicket to Curran, but the ball jags back in after pitching almost squaring up the India captain. Tries to get the bat down in time but the ball kisses the inside edge of the big MRF and India collect another boundary.

Stokes appears to be troubling both Kohli and Rahul at the moment. Digs in the bouncer and Rahul plays the aerial pull, which came from nowhere close to the middle of his bat. The ball lands in the vacant square-leg region but a single completed.

A slightly nervy drive that one from Rahul. The bat turns a bit in his hand and the ball hits the bottom of his bat and rolls down to third man. Slightly uppish but no harm done. Tom Curran pulls things back with a good over giving away just two runs. India 47/2 after 12.

11 overs bowled and India reach 45/2. Ben Stokes into the attack and four runs are scored off his first. India cash in on an overthrow opportunity and complete a second run after a throw from Adil Rashid hits the stumps and rolls on behind the keeper.

Sam's brother, Tom Curran introduced in the attack and he gets a warm welcome from Virat Kohli as the India captain drives between mid on and extra cover to score his second boundary. A gentle half-volley to begin things for Curran, but follows it up with five very good balls. India 41/2 after 10 overs.

...in perhaps the most unlucky manner. The ball from Curran was sliding down leg but Rohit unfortunately flicked the ball to Adil Rashid, who takes a brilliant catch inside the circle at fine leg. Perhaps that is the line they were experimenting with and the move has finally paid off. India 37/2 in the 9th over. Big, big wicket for England. Rohit was batting like a million bucks.
