All eyes on the decider now...

Well, like the T20Is, the ODI leg also moves to the series decider on Sunday. India 1, England 1. The winner takes it all in the final. If India can secure the win, they will complete a trifecta of wins over England on this tour. Expect Sunday to offer another cracker. Till then, take care all.

From the winning captain Jos Buttler

Delighted with the response of the guys. I thought we put in a very good bowling performance as well to restrict India to that total. Look at how well they played in the last 10 overs, so I thought the guys in the middle overs did well to restrict them. And then the guys came out and played fantastically well, the intent and partnerships from the start made it a brilliant chase. The openers have been a pillar of our strength for a long period of time. Delighted for Jonny and that partnership with Ben Stokes was brilliant to watch, as a fellow player and a fan. Some of the strokes they played and the commitment to play that way. Some people talked about our way and if we need to be smarter - of course we want to play smart cricket but it's important to commit to our style of play when the conditions suit. Moeen and Adil bowled well in tandem, great friends and they enjoy bowling together."

'They blew us away,' says Kohli on the Stokes-Bairstow partnership

Virat Kohli: "I think the most pleasing thing for us as a team is we didn't go away from our values as a team. We were bitterly disappointed after the first ODI. Great chase and happy we were able to go over the line fairly easily despite India putting up a big total. Better wicket to be honest but we don't really fear any totals to be honest. It could have been easy to rein ourselves in after the last game but from a personal and team point of view, it was important to play as we do. We speak about match ups in our changing room and my match-up was with the spinners to take the risk, just let Jonny keep going on with his business. He's in unbelievable form. The amount of runs they (Roy and Bairstow) have scored is obviously amazing, but if you look at the way they have scored it's even better .best in the world in my opinion. Always good going to the last game when the series is on the line."

Let's hear from the Man of the Moment, Ben Stokes

England win, series levelled at 1-1

A free hit to end the match. England chase down 337 runs with 39 balls to spare. 39! They beat India by six wickets to push the series into the decider on Sunday.

  • Mar 26, 2021 09:22 PM IST

Prasidh still firing them in at 140 clicks

Some spirit this from the India pacer. England need just 7 more to win but there has been no drop in pace from Prasidh Krishna, who continues to dart them in at 140 or near about.

  • Mar 26, 2021 09:15 PM IST

    England dealing in singles

The right way to go about it. Just 16 needed with 53 balls remaining. Those three wickets may have slowed things down a bit, but England pretty much on course for 1-1.

  • Mar 26, 2021 09:05 PM IST

    Consecutive SIXES for Livingstone

And the bowler he is targeting is none other than India's best of the night, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The first six was smoked down the ground while the next ball was pulled for a huge hit. England move to 315/4, need another 22 off 63 balls.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:54 PM IST

    OUT! Incredible scenes in Pune

Hang on! Catch a breath. Now it's Buttler. Three wickets in nine balls for India. England 287/4. Drama all around. Can India have a surprise to inflict on England here? With 43 needed off 73, this is still England's game, but you've got to believe that there isn't much experience in this batting line-up.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:51 PM IST

    OUT! And now Bairstow departs

OUT! Two wickets in two overs for India. Krishna removes Bairstow for 124. England 287/3.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:46 PM IST

    WICKET! 99 for Stokes

OUT! Ben Stokes is gone for 99. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets the wicket. Oh dear! If anyone deserved to get a century tonight, it was him. He has changed the complexion of this game completely. Goes for the pull but gloves a short ball from Bhuvneshwar to Rishabh Pant. But like we said, not before he turned the tables for England, putting them on course of a series-levelling win. England 285/2 in 35.2 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:42 PM IST

    Outrageous! This is unbelievable

15 runs have come off the last over, which believe it or not, is India's best in the last three. My goodness! This is definite carnage by two of England's finest limited-over batsmen. England need just 52 off 89 balls.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:36 PM IST

    This is ridiculous hitting!

28 runs off the over. Three sixes and a four in that over which takes Ben Stokes into the 90s. He is 95 off just 50 balls. Incredible stuff by these two. They look set to chase it down inside 40 overs for all we know. England 266/1 after 34 overs, need another 71 off 95 balls.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:32 PM IST

SIX: 8th of the innings for Stokes

Virat Kohli turns back to Ben Stokes and the result is a SIX, WIDE and a FOUR off the first two balls of the over. This is tremendous hitting. The Indians appear shell-shocked. Krunal is trying everything, the quicker ones, the short quicker ones, the fuller ball bowled at 110 kmph. But nothing seems to be working for them.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:29 PM IST

    Three SIXES in a row

An over to forget for Kuldeep as Stokes carts him for three straight sixes. The shoulders have dropped and there are plenty of meetings taking place between members of the Indian team and their captain. For the first time, England's asking rate has come down under six an over, chasing 337. Imagine the carnage that has taken place in the last 10-12 overs. England 238/1 after 33 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:23 PM IST

    Fifty for Stokes

Ben Stokes creams runs a single to get to fifty, off 40 balls. Didn't realise for a moment there. Finally raises his bat and his teammates in the dugout acknowledge. Bairstow cracks a four in the over off Shardul to take the total to 218/1 in 32 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:15 PM IST

    Serious hitting from England

Expensive over for India. 17 runs off it. Stokes joins Bairstow in clubbing a six and then a four to get England to 211/1 in 31 overs. Kuldeep has given away 57 runs in eight overs and this is some heavy striking by England. It's raining fours and sixes and the match is quickly slipping out of India's grasp.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:11 PM IST

    Century for Jonny Bairstow

Century for Jonny Bairstow, off 95 balls as England march on in chase. Gets there with a six, which also brings up the 200 for England. A big grunt from Kuldeep but the ball connects the middle of the bat.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:07 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live: First FOUR for Stokes

He's hit three sixes but here Stokes scores his first four of the innings. Comes down the wicket and slashes Thakur for a four over and wide of the keeper. Once again, a boundary off the first ball of the over for England.

  • Mar 26, 2021 08:03 PM IST

    Bairstow enters the 90s

After three dot balls, Bairstow has clubbed Kuldeep for his fifth six of the innings. A mighty hit, '23 rows back' as Graeme Swann says on commentary. For the second time in two matches, Bairstow is in the 90s. He's on 94, his score in the previous ODI. England 188/1, need 149 runs from 21 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:58 PM IST

FOUR! Another early boundary in the over for England

Bairstow thumps Bhuvneshwar Kumar down the ground for a four first ball off the over, but the India quick returns strong with four dot balls and a single to finish. Five from it. England 180/1 after 28 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:55 PM IST

    Kuldeep to Bairstow: FOUR

Frustrating stuff this from Kuldeep. Short ball outside leg and that is break and butter for even a No. 8 batsman, let alone a set Bairstow. England get that early boundary once again but Kuldeep has to do a lot better than that. The asking rate has climbed to over 7 and over, but the scoring rate isn't too behind. England 175/1 after 27.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:53 PM IST

How good was that over from Bhuvneshwar?

Comes back for his second spell and starts off brilliantly. Just three runs off the over, a single and a couple of runs. The game has reached a stage where one good over from India is sure to out pressure on England. But where will the remaining tidy overs come from?

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:51 PM IST

Stokes survives a close run-out call

A brilliant direct hit by Kuldeep Yadav from the deep, almost sees the back of Ben Stokes. As he casually returned for the second run, not showing much belief in Kuldeep's arm, Stokes has to really push it towards the end. The replay showed it was closer than usual, with some part of Stokes' bat barely crossed the crease. It was a matter of one frame. Stokes survives. England 170/1 after 26 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:43 PM IST

    Brilliant comeback from Thakur

Just three runs in the over and the pressure of a good over is out there for everyone to see as Stokes tries to attempt a ramp shot but misses. England 167/1 after 25 overs. Indian fans must be wondering where Hardik Pandya is. Well, he was just seen in an animated chat with captain Virat Kohli, who instead brings Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the attack, perhaps keeping Hardik for a later stage.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:33 PM IST

    150 up for England

As Bairstow goes back to his boundary his spree. He went a bit quiet after Jason Roy's wicket but is back to his belligerent best smashing two fours off three balls off Krishna. Follows it with a couple down to long-on. England 154/1 in 23 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:30 PM IST

    Second SIX for Stokes

Krunal errs slightly in length and bowls on the shorter side. Stokes, who has been eyeing that leg-side boundary, get the opportunity and thumps it for a maximum. England 142/1 after 22 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:29 PM IST

Krishna returns with a tidy over

His third and fourth overs were expensive, but Prasidh Krishna has started his fresh spell with a two-run over. A run out appeal from India against Bairstow after Virat Kohli collected the ball and took off the stumps, but the replay showed that Jonny was home comfortably. England 130/1 after 21 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:21 PM IST

    Krunal to Stokes: SIX

And he doesn't waste much time. Brings out the big, hard swing and clears the boundary comfortably for his first six. India operating with spin from both ends with Krunal and Kuldeep bowling in tandem. But India would want to change it and not give either Stokes or Bairstow to get used to the pace. 20 overs bowled, England 128/1.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:17 PM IST

Surprise, Surprise! Ben Stokes at No. 3 for England

There has been so much spoken about how Ben Stokes is 'wasted' and stuff like that batting down the order. Well, here he is for England, batting at No. 3, with the series on the line. England will hope they move works out well. He looked good to finish the game in the fifth T20I. Can he work something up tonight?

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:10 PM IST

    OUT! Jason Roy run out

A terrible mix up between the two batsmen and Roy will have to head back. Yes, No, Yes, and a terrific piece of fielding by Rohit Sharma gives India a much-needed breakthrough. England 110/1 in 16.3 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 07:07 PM IST

    Fifty for Bairstow

He gets there off 45 balls with his fourth six of the innings. First ball of a fresh over from Kuldeep and Bairstow clubs it into the fifth or sixth row. England 110/0 in 16.2 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:59 PM IST

    Back-to-back sixes for Bairstow

12 runs off the first two balls off Thakur's fourth over. The first ball was smoked down the ground for six and the next was flicked with tremendous timing. England 99/0 after 15.2 overs, while at the same stage, India were 67/2.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:57 PM IST

    Fifty for Roy

Half-century for Jason Roy off 48 balls, gets there with a SIX. No longer a victim of the 40s. The moment he connected Kuldeep, there were cries of "catch it", but there was just enough on the ball to send it over Krunal at long-on.

    England 84/0 in 14.2 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:52 PM IST

    Thakur to Bairstow: SIX

Clubbed, right out of the middle of the bat. For a moment, it seemed as if Krunal Pandya at long on had a chance but it was timed brilliantly. Almost chipped for a six. First six for England. It was on the cards after those three tight overs by India. England 77/0, 14 overs gone.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:49 PM IST

    Kuldeep bowls an eventful over

Four runs off the over. Kuldeep bowls a wide, which he believes caught a bit of Jonny Bairstow's gloves as he tried to sweep. There was also a wrong one and a reverse sweep that went straight to the fielder. Three very good overs for India here. England 70/0 after 13 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:46 PM IST

    Thakur pulls his socks

Three runs off Thakur's second over, which includes a wide. The last two overs have been good for India, combining to give away just five runs. Bairstow and Roy won't mind it though, for there is a lot of time remaining in the game. England are behind the asking rate but a lot can change.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:37 PM IST

    In comes Kuldeep

Gets off to a good start to give just two runs in the over. England 61/0 after 11 overs. He was expensive in the previous game, going wicketless for 68 in nine overs. But he has been backed for another game and the pressure promises to be immense. He's got limited opportunities in the past. This surface may not offer him much turn but there will be some bounce on offer for Kuldeep to make something of this.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:35 PM IST

A FOUR to finish the Powerplay

End of the first Powerplay and England would be happy with their progress to reach 59/0 in the first 10 overs. Bairstow capped off the previous over with a beautiful punch off the backfoot between cover and point for a four.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:34 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score, 2nd ODI: Thakur to Bairstow - FOUR

India bowlers repeating their mistakes. Like Krishna, Thakur drops the ball short and Bairstow takes full toll. A pull shot for another boundary. Every time India have landed the ball in the good length area, they have managed to keep England's openers quiet.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:30 PM IST

A boundary and a single off the over

Bairstow flicks for four. Five runs off the over as England reach 51/0 after nine overs. Once again, Roy and Bairstow have seen England off to a watchful start. A friendly chat between Bairstow and Bhuvneshwar as the batsman walks to the non-striker's end. There will be more of it with the IPL approaching.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:27 PM IST

    Appeal from India

But no success as umpire Nitin Menon turns it down. Bhuvneshwar and Kohli have a chat but decide against the review. Bairstow went down the wicket and the ball rapped him on the back bat. The DRS shows the ball would have clipped the top of middle but since the umpire's call was not out, India would be happy to not take the review after all.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:24 PM IST

    Decent comeback from Krishna

After being taken for 13 off his last over, Krishna conceded just two singles off the first five balls, before erring in the final ball of the over. Short and outside off, and Roy goes after it with an aerial cut stroke for a four. Roy has raced to 39 off 37, Bairstow 6 off 11. England 46/0 after 8 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:18 PM IST

    Runs starting to flow now

After three quiet overs, England are getting a move on... and once again, it's Jason Roy providing the early impetus for England. Strikes back-to-back boundaries off Bhuvneshwar - a ramp shot and a backfoot punch down the ground for four. Bairstow has faced just eight balls out of the first 7 overs. England 40/0 after 7 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:14 PM IST

    Three FOURS in the over

And add a third boundary to that over. Again Krishna is guilty of pitching the ball short, and Roy has ample time to guide the ball towards fine leg for a third four in four balls. There could have been a fourth four in the over but Kohli pulls out a good save at cover to keep it to 13 off the over. England 30/0 after 6 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:11 PM IST

    Roy pulls for FOUR, twice

After a straight drive in the previous over, Roy brings out the front-foot pull shot to get himself his second boundary. Slightly short from Krishna, but good enough for Roy. Plays an identical shot next ball and gets the same result. Was that the calm before the storm?

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:07 PM IST

    FOUR for Bairstow

Gets off the mark in some style. Short ball from Bhuvneshwar but Bairstow does well to get on top of the bounce and pulls it for a four. Long chase for Shardul Thakur towards the mid-wicket boundary but the ball trumps him. England 17/0 after 5.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:03 PM IST

    Krishna to Roy: FOUR

The release shot from Roy. There have hardly been any scoring opportunities and the pressure was visible on England's openers. Krishna bowls a half-volley and Roy drills a drive down the ground for a four. Much-needed for England. Five off the over, England 10 without loss after 4 overs

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:02 PM IST

Leading edge but doesn't carry. That ball from Krishan stopped on Roy, hit the top half of the bat and lobs in the air, falling towards cover, where Virat Kohli attempts to take the catch but the ball lands just short.

  • Mar 26, 2021 06:01 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score: Bhuvneshwar testing Roy

Not so much with his trademark banana swing, but it's that slight movement on balls bowled outside off, to which Roy is being a bit tentative. Bhuvneshwar beats Roy twice in three balls as the batsman scampers to the non-striker's end for a single. Another one-run over. England 5/0 after 3.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:57 PM IST

Prasidh Krishna already cranking it up

Starts gingerly with a ball bowled at 126 kmph, but by the time the fourth ball was bowled, Krishna had already hit the 140s. Just a single in the over, off the final ball. England 4/0 after 2 overs

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:52 PM IST

    Bhuvneshwar begins well

Good over from Bhuvneshwar. Just 3 runs from it. Good start from India. Roy off the mark with a couple of runs and takes a single to go with it. Bairstow yet to open his account.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:47 PM IST

    England openers out to chase

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are in the middle to open the innings. India start the attack with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

KL Rahul speaks after the match

KL Rahul: "It was a hot day and it was important for us to get a partnership. Really happy with what we have achieved after 50 overs. Scoring runs makes you confident, and that's what you want to do. I was disappointed after the T20 series, but that's how the game goes. Few quality shots eased my nerves. Really happy I was able to build those partnerships with Virat and Rishabh. It (the celebration) is just to shut out the noise, not to disrespect anyone. There are people out there who try to pull you down, at times you need to neglect them. So that's just a message to shut out that noise. When me and Virat were batting, we needed anything around 300, so happy with this total."

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:19 PM IST

End of innings! India post 336/6

A couple of runs to finish the innings for India. Topley gives away just nine runs - 13 in his last three - as India finish on 336/6 from 50 overs. This is the fifth time India have posted more than a 100 runs between overs 41 and 50. Just a testament to how strong this middle order is.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:18 PM IST

    OUT! Topley gets Pandya

Goes for the big hit but holes out at long off where Roy takes a fine catch. Hardik perishes for a 16-ball 35.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:17 PM IST

    Topley to Hardik: FOUR

Topley tries to send the yorker outside off but misses it by a whisker. Hardik connects and sends the ball crashing through the fielder at cover for another four. Two balls left in the innings.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:13 PM IST

Curran to Krunal: Smashed for FOUR

Short ball outside off and Krunal drills it on the up. One bounce and the ball fires into the advertising boards. Ruthless power from the Pandya brothers. Curran follows it with a wide. 14 off the penultimate over of the innings as India reach 327/5 with one over to go.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:11 PM IST

    Curran to Hardik: SIX

Slower ball from Tom Curran, a leg cutter but Hardik picks it well and muscles it over long on. Right in the slot and Hardik takes full toll. He's smashed 4 sixes off 13 balls. Magnificent!

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:09 PM IST

Just 4 runs in the 40th over

Brilliant over by Reece Topley under pressure. India 313/5 with two overs to go. The situation is ideal for Hardik and Krunal Pandya to do what they've done for the Mumbai Indian over the last so many years. Surely, they would be eyeing 350.

  • Mar 26, 2021 05:06 PM IST

    WICKET! Pant holes out

Sorry, there won't be a maiden ODI century for Rishabh Pant as he top edges Tom Curran to Jason Roy at third man. The umpires referred the catch although the soft signal was out, but replays showed that Roy had completed a rather clean catch to send Pant back. For a moment there, Pant looked set to register the fastest century by an India batsman in ODIs, but it wasn't to be. None the less, he's done the job. India 309/4 after 47 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:56 PM IST

    Scintillating start from Hardik Pandya

A six off the first ball for Hardik. Doesn't get better than that, does it? To add to England's woes, there is no stopping Pant either as he smacks his sixth six of the innings. Sam Curran misses a yorker and gets tonked for another six from Pandya. Three sixes in the over already as India collect 21 off it. India 294/4 with four overs remaining.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:50 PM IST

    OUT! India lose KL Rahul

OUT! KL Rahul holes out in the deep for 108. Tom Curran gets the wicket as Topley completes the catch.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:41 PM IST

    Century for KL Rahul

A hundred for KL Rahul, his 5th in ODIs. What a moment for him! He's been under a lot of pressure, with people questioning his place in India's Playing XI. But Kohli and the team management's faith has finally paid off. With six overs left, who knows? Rahul can get his highest individual score in ODIs with ease, which at the moment is 112. India 267/3 in 44 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:34 PM IST

A blazing half-century for Rishabh Pant

Wait! Didn't he just come to bat? Well, that's what it looks like. It's taken Rishabh Pant just 28 balls to register his second ODI fifty. He's played some tremendous shots and the outcome has been remarkable. What a time for this knock to come for him... when India are one win away from sealing the series. Then again, it's been a shiny few months for the youngster. India 247/3 in 42 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:30 PM IST

    Pant survives... again

Alright there! What's happening here? Two wrong decisions by the umpire towards Pant have been reversed courtesy the DRS. This time. it's a caught behind chance. Pant goes for the pull and the ball lobs off something to enter Buttler's gloves. He instantly went for the review and the replay showed the ball hitting his left hand.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:29 PM IST

    KL Rahul enters the 90s

A six and a four to begin Tom Curran's seventh and England's 42nd over. Clubs the ball over long off comfortably and swivels to pull the next towards deep backward square leg. He's on 97. He's one strike away from his big moment.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:25 PM IST

    Stokes to Pant: 6, 4, 6

Rishabh Pant is turning it on here in Pune. Six, Four and a SIX off consecutive balls bowled by Ben Stokes. England under severe pressure as the run-rate spikes to almost 5.5 an over. The partnership has reached 67 off 54 as India get to 225/3 with nine overs to go.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:21 PM IST

    Pant survives

Tom Curran seemingly had Rishabh Pant out LBW. He premeditated a reverse sweep to a fuller ball, which hit something before going for a boundary. England appealed for an LBW and Pant was given out. But the batsman went for the review immediately and as is turned out, the ball clearly went behind after hitting the bat and not the pads or boots.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:14 PM IST

    FOUR more to Pant

The left-hander is finally hitting the groove. Finishes the over from Topley with a four. Sets himself up for the pull shot and Pant drills the ball on the leg side for his second boundary-hitting shot. India have shown their intent in the last couple of overs. Surely, they're going to go after the bowling from here on.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:10 PM IST

    Rashid to Pant: SIX

Pant launches the leg-spinner to end his quota of 10 overs. Tried it earlier in the over but it didn't work. This time around though, Pant got right to the pitch of the ball and hammered it over long on. Perfect slog sweep with the desired result. India 194/3 after 38 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:07 PM IST

    Pant miscues

But no damage done for India. Rashid tries to fox Pant with the wrong one and it almost works. Pant, having been there for 13 balls now, tried to go for the big heave but didn't middle it well enough. And as a result, the ball carried to the fielder at long-on on one bounce.

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:03 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score: Topley to Rahul: FOUR

Short ball from Topley, and Rahul, on 70-odd is not going to miss out on that. Swivels across the stumps and brings out the rollicking pull shot, almost send the ball over the ropes. Is that the first sign of India's pending charge?

  • Mar 26, 2021 04:02 PM IST

Topley returns, what can he conjure?

We enter the final 15-over phase of India's innings, a very crucial passage of play. Is this the time India for India to go for the kill? Rahul is set, but he has been joined by Rishabh Pant, whom we all know can inflict serious damage. Rahul should certainly be the anchor from here on, while the rest of the batsmen should switch gears for India.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:58 PM IST

Meanwhile, Kohli the batsman adds another feather in his cap

The India captain, with his knock of 66, has surpassed former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith to become the fifth-highest run-getter as captain in ODIs. Kohli overtook Smith's tally of 5416 runs and is now behind Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming and Arjuna Ranatunga. What a star-studded list this is.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:53 PM IST

Moeen Ali bowls 10 overs in a row

Wow! How often do you see that? 10 overs in a go from Moeen Ali and he hasn't fared too badly. 47 runs without a wicket. Good effort from the England all-rounder.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:48 PM IST

    Crunched for FOUR!

Misfield from England, Ben Stokes off all people and it allows Rahul to get himself a boundary. He thumped a delivery from Moeen Ali straight to Stokes, who surprisingly, was perhaps anticipating a catch, or what? Only he knows. Makes a total mess of it. India 169/3 after 34 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:41 PM IST

OUT! Kohli departs, the wait for a century grows

Virat Kohli edges Adil Rashid to Jos Buttler and falls for 66. The century drought extends. The India captain tried to run the ball down to third man, but opened the face of his bat which did the trick for Rashid. A decent edge and this time Buttler makes no mistake. England get a much-needed breakthrough. India 158/3.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:38 PM IST

    Rashid to Rahul: SIX

Down the wicket he goes and with the help of the lovely bat swing which he generates, connects the ball from the middle to launch it into the empty stands over long-on.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:32 PM IST

    Half-century for KL Rahul

After Kohli, it's Rahul's turn to raise his bat. He's played equally well and his role in this partnership has been as crucial as his skipper. Back-to-back half-centuries for him, following the unbeaten 62 in the series opener. No wonder Kohli and the management backs Rahul. Too good a batsman not to.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:30 PM IST

100-run partnership between Rahul and Kohli

This stand continues to go from strength to strength. Kohli and Rahul came together when India's score was 37/2, but from there have appeared in no real discomfort. This partnership has set the platform for India, who should go after the bowling in another 10 overs from now. After 29 overs, the score is 139/2.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:24 PM IST

    Kohli gets to FIFTY

What consistency this from the Indian captain. He gets to his fifth half-century in the last six international innings. His 62nd in ODIs, which comes off 62 balls. Now the big question. Can this be transformed into a hundred that has eluded him for over 500 days?

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:20 PM IST

Rashid to Rahul: Cut for FOUR!

Rashid tries to fix Rahul with a googly, but the ball was too short in length. Ample time for a set Rahul to rock back on to the back foot and cut the ball between Sam Curran and Moeen Ali for a four. Rashid not pleased with that effort. The partnership has now reached 85 off 106 balls.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:19 PM IST

England need to find a way to break this partnership

The last few overs have been rather easy going for Rahul and Kohli. England showing no signs of attack here. The field is spread out making it no task whatsoever for Kohli and Rahul to collect singles and twos. This is where Morgan is being missed perhaps? None the less, Kohli approaching his half-century. India 112/2 after 25 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:09 PM IST

    DROPPED! Buttler puts down Kohli

Oh dear! A missed opportunity for England as Jos Buttler drops Virat Kohli. The India captain went for a booming drive, getting the outside edge as the ball turns away. Buttler's gloves closed even before the ball reached him. Hands on heads all around. How costly will this prove to be? Meanwhile, the 100 comes up for India.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:07 PM IST

As are we, RP. As are we

RP Singh's thoughts are bang on. As of this moment, the situation seems to be turning our perfectly for India's middle order hitters.

  • Mar 26, 2021 03:00 PM IST

    FOUR! Glorious from Rahul

What a way to bring up the 50-run partnership. Adil Rashid comes into the attack and bowls a loopy delivery on off stump. Rahul gets into position to caress a beautiful cover drive between long on and sweeper cover. Terrific stuff this. A seven-run over takes India to 90/2 after 20 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:58 PM IST

    Kohli, Rahul milking singles

Perfect time to make sure the runs keep coming while keeping an eye out on the run rate. India are scoring at 4.3 an over, with six runs coming off the last over. Rahul is batting on 20 and Kohli moves to 31. Good period this for India. If they can continue this for another 10 overs, expect some explosive batting in the third Powerplay. India 83/2 in 19 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:55 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score, 2nd ODI: Curran bowls a tidy over

Just two singles off it as India reach 77/2. The partnership between Kohli and Rahul has reached 42 off 56 balls and although it's been more than three overs without a boundary, India won't mind this. Rahul and Kohli continue to bat themselves into this match.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:48 PM IST

First signs of spin in the match

Moeen Ali into the attack... in the 17th over. It was inevitable given how India have scored at over 6 an over in the last four overs. Kohli and Rahul are starting to settle down and England can sense it. Won't be surprising to see Adil Rashid coming from the other end. Three runs off the over as India get to 75/2 after 17 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:46 PM IST

    A quick 15-over summary

After they were put to bat, India lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma without much on the board, and the dismissal of Sharma would rather pinch India given how he was just beginning to set himself up with three fours in an over. At 37/2, India looked to be in a bit of a spot and one more wicket could have proved dangerous, but thankfully for India and their fans, captain Virat Kohli and No. 4 batsman KL Rahul took over nicely to keep the scoreboard ticking.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:41 PM IST

Kohli warned for running on the danger area

Kohli takes a single but accidentally takes off running on the danger area before changing his direction. Umpire Virender Sharma is quick to take notice and brings it to the Indian captain's attention. Not the first time this has happened. In the Test series, Kohli was warned by umpire Nitin Menon for the same offence. India 72/2 after 16 overs as drinks are called on to the field.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:35 PM IST

Ind vs Eng, Live Score - Stokes to Rahul: FOUR!

A perfect yorker from Stokes pitches almost just an inch outside off. But Raul gets his bat down right in time and squeezes the ball between the wicketkeeper and first slip to bring himself a four. Nothing wrong with the ball, just intelligent piece of thinking from Rahul. They don't call it a batsman's game for no reason. Good over for India as 10 come off it. They move to 66/2 in 15 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:31 PM IST

Streaky, but Kohli gets a FOUR

Inside edge and the ball races away to the boundary. Kohli comes down the wicket to Curran, but the ball jags back in after pitching almost squaring up the India captain. Tries to get the bat down in time but the ball kisses the inside edge of the big MRF and India collect another boundary.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:27 PM IST

Stokes to Rahul: In the air...

Stokes appears to be troubling both Kohli and Rahul at the moment. Digs in the bouncer and Rahul plays the aerial pull, which came from nowhere close to the middle of his bat. The ball lands in the vacant square-leg region but a single completed.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:24 PM IST

Rahul opens the face of the bat...

A slightly nervy drive that one from Rahul. The bat turns a bit in his hand and the ball hits the bottom of his bat and rolls down to third man. Slightly uppish but no harm done. Tom Curran pulls things back with a good over giving away just two runs. India 47/2 after 12.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:20 PM IST

    Stokes testing Kohli

11 overs bowled and India reach 45/2. Ben Stokes into the attack and four runs are scored off his first. India cash in on an overthrow opportunity and complete a second run after a throw from Adil Rashid hits the stumps and rolls on behind the keeper.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:15 PM IST

    FOUR! Second boundary to Kohli

Sam's brother, Tom Curran introduced in the attack and he gets a warm welcome from Virat Kohli as the India captain drives between mid on and extra cover to score his second boundary. A gentle half-volley to begin things for Curran, but follows it up with five very good balls. India 41/2 after 10 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:11 PM IST

WICKET! Rohit perishes... perhaps the most unlucky manner. The ball from Curran was sliding down leg but Rohit unfortunately flicked the ball to Adil Rashid, who takes a brilliant catch inside the circle at fine leg. Perhaps that is the line they were experimenting with and the move has finally paid off. India 37/2 in the 9th over. Big, big wicket for England. Rohit was batting like a million bucks.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:05 PM IST

    Three FOURS in the over

Rohit Sharma on a roll. Hits a third four in the over to send some alarm bells in the English camp. Short ball from Topley and Rohit gets into position quickly to bring out a pull shot which clears the infield comfortably and races to the boundary. India 36/1 after 8 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:04 PM IST

Ind vs Eng 2nd ODI Live Score: Back-to-back FOURS

Make that two in a row. Topley just beginning to lose his line and length. Too short and outside off. Rohit's eyes light up and he brings out a powerful cut shot that fetches him four more runs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 02:02 PM IST

    Topley to Rohit: FOUR!

That's two fours in two balls now that Rohit has managed off the bowling of Topley. If the previous one was pitched outside off, this one was on Rohit's legs and the batsman nonchalantly flicks it for four. Lovely, crisp timing there.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:59 PM IST

Flicked for FOUR! Kohli up and away

This time it's Curran who slightly errs his line. Drifts the ball on to Kohli's pads and the India captain will flick them all day long. The fine leg fielder was inside the circle and Kohli spots the vacant area to get himself his first boundary of this innings. Six runs off the seventh over, India are 24/1

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:58 PM IST

Ind vs Eng Live Score: FOUR! Gift for Rohit

Wrapped up in gift paper and rolled with a red ribbon. That's how that ball appeared to Rohit Sharma. A low full toss outside off from Topley and the India opener takes full toll. It was a fabulous over until then. India 18/1 after 6 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:52 PM IST

    FOUR! First boundary for India

It's taken four overs but India finally have their first boundary of the innings. Full from Curran and Rohit brings out the face of his bat and drives the ball down the ground for a four. Perfect straight drive, with the bat-maker's name prominently visible. India 13/1 after five overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:48 PM IST

    OUT! India lose first wicket

GONE! Dhawan edges Topley to slips and India are 9/1 in 3.5 overs. The left-arm quick stick to that line outside off, and Dhawan's patience runs out. No swing but the left-hander slashes at the ball. Takes the outside edge and flies to second slip where Ben Stokes completes the catch.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:45 PM IST

Play halted as Stokes applies saliva on the ball

A warning given to Ben Stokes after the England all-rounder accidentally applied saliva. Jos Buttler has a word with umpire Virender Sharma and play is halted just for a moment. The next time it happens, five penalty runs will be provided to India.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:42 PM IST

Three overs bowled, India yet to score a boundary

It's been a tidy start from the two left-arm quicks - Sam Curran and Reese Topley. They're pitching the ball right in the area of uncertainty, forcing Dhawan to look out for the swing. Right on middle and off with some shape. One run off the third over and India are 7/0.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:36 PM IST

    Topley with the new ball

Starts off with a wild swinging ball. Whoa! Where did that come from? Pitches and just takes off. Dhawan and Rohit squeeze a single each to take the score to 6/0 after 2 overs.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:35 PM IST

End of Over 1: India 4/0

Shikhar Dhawan caresses the ball between mid off and extra cover as he and Rohit Sharma successfully run three. The umpire checked for a boundary but Adil Rashid did well to put in the dive and flick the ball back.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:31 PM IST

Good shape for Curran, India off the mark

Nothing more encouraging than a bit of swing early for an opening bowler. Sam Curran gets the ball to swing into the right hander. But Rohit flicks it square on the leg side to open his and India's account.

India vs England, 2nd ODI: India openers stride to the center

All eyes will be on the two mainstays of Indian batting - Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. India's opening pair is the fourth-leading run-getter in ODIs, behind Tendulkar-Ganguly, Gilchrist-Hayden and Greenidge-Haynes. Rohit and Dhawan's pair is 284 runs away from going third on the list.

    Captain's Corner

Virat Kohli: "We actually wanted to bat again, conditions play a big part. If you are intense and looking for wickets and you're aggressive, you can come back (even given the way England play). The development of a team is all about that, you have to be ready to do whatever happens in the toss. That's why we wanted to put ourselves in a similar situation even if we won the toss. Outside of that middle overs period where we lost 3-4 wickets, pretty happy with our batting. The chat in the field was to keep the belief, doesn't matter if we lose in 40 overs. Unfortunately Shreyas Iyer is out with a shoulder injury, Rishabh Pant replaces him."

India: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant(w), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

Shikhar Dhawan on a roll since 2018

42 innings and 1862 runs at an average of 46.7 and a strike-rate of 97. These are Shikhar Dhawan's numbers in ODI cricket since 2018. That should lay to rest any doubts as to why he remains India's No. 1 opening batsman in the 50-over format.

  • Mar 26, 2021 01:05 PM IST

    TOSS: England opt to bowl

Jos Buttler wins the toss and he has decided to field against India in Pune. Dawid Malan, Reese Topley and Livingstone in. For India, there's only one change. Rishabh Pant comes in for Shreyas Iyer, which means there's still no place for Suryakumar Yadav.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:56 PM IST

Pitch Report: Hard deck with a bit of grass

Deep Dasgupta says this pitch will suit the batsmen. Although there is a tinge of grass, the surface looks firm and solid. Slightly flatter than the last one... and to imagine over 300 runs were scored by the team batting first. Another belter expected. Fast bowlers, as cliched as it sounds, those first 15 overs are important.

    Toss coming up shortly

What will the team combinations be? Will India back Kuldeep Yadav enough to give him another go? Or will he be replaced by fellow wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal? Then there's the No. 4 conundrum - a spot for whom Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant are the best contenders. VVS Laxman says he wants Surya to get the remaining two matches, and as does Sunil Gavaskar.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:47 PM IST

Will England be able to cash in on the recent pattern?

So far, the team winning the first match of the series has ended up losing it. It happened in Test matches and T20Is, as England won the opener in both and went on to lose the series. Graeme Swann is already celebrating, pulling out some dance moves believing it's England's time to turn the tables. But in front of them is a strong Indian team with the best bench strength available. Shreyas Iyer being out injured is unfortunate, but India have more-than-capable resourced to make up the void.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:38 PM IST

How will England react in Morgan's absence?

If Joe Root and Jofra Archer's injuries weren't enough to dent England in this ODI series, add to that the body blow of Eoin Morgan's split webbing. The England captain, who sustained the injury in the first ODI, required four stitches, and ruled himself out of the remainder of the series. Furthermore, England don't have Sam Billings either owing to another injury. Stand-in captain Jos Buttler has a huge mountain to climb.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:27 PM IST

Will India rest Bhuvneshwar and play Natarajan?

It's a difficult one to answer. Ever since his return to the Indian side following a long injury lay-off, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been functioning like a well-oiled machine. In fact, he is one of the very few players who has played all six limited-overs matches against England. T Natarajan, on the other hand, has played just one T20I since the Australia tour.

Virat Kohli and the long awaited century

It was November 2019 when Virat Kohli last scored a century for India in any format. While this has been the longest the India captain has been without a century in international cricket in terms of days, one has to take in consideration that there weren't many matches last year due to the global pandemic. Notably, Kohli has not been out of form as it may look like. He has been making regular contributions in all three formats. For instance, he scored three 70-plus scores in the T20Is, returning as the highest scorer of the series and also scored a fluent 56 in the first ODI against England.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:18 PM IST

    What about Rohit Sharma?

Rohit Sharma was hit on the left elbow by a Mark Wood pacey delivery. The India limited-overs vice captain did appear to be in a lot of pain but as per reports he is fit to play and will open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan in the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI today in Pune.

KL Rahul at middle-order but who's the spinner?

There has been enough indications from the Indian camp to more or less confirm that KL Rahul will be the wicket-keeper and he will continue to bat at No.5 but one department that more questions than answers is the spin. India surprised many going ahead with Kuldeep Yadav but the left-arm wrist spinner was a major disappointment. It'll be interesting to see if Kohli decides to play Yuzvendra Chahal in the 2nd ODI today.

  • Mar 26, 2021 12:03 PM IST

Toss-up between Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant

Suryakumar Yadav has to be the front-runner to make his ODI debut in place of Shreyas Iyer but one shouldn't rule out the possibilities of seeing Rishabh Pant make a comeback. But odds are heavily in favour of Suryakumar, who is not only a like-for-like replacement for Iyer but is also going a purple patch.

  • Mar 26, 2021 11:57 AM IST

    Who will replace Shreyas Iyer?

First of all, one should be gutted for Shreyas Iyer. Despite tough competition, Iyer had cemented the middle-order's spot on the back of some impactful performances but an unfortunate shoulder injury while fielding in the firs ODI has ruled him out of cricket for at least 10 weeks. As per reports, the right hander is set to undergo surgery on March 28.
