The warm-up match against Essex may have been a tricky one for the Indian cricket team, but Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were in a jovial mood on Friday.

The duo of Kohli and Dhawan entertained the crowd in Chelmsford with an impromptu dance while entering the field at the start of Day 3 of the three-day encounter. The cricketers were welcomed onto the ground to the sound of Dhol and the duo could not help but break into a bit of ‘bhangra’.

Essex posted the video on Twitter with the caption: “Two @BCCI players have enjoyed their time at Chelmsford! Well played, @imVkohli & @SDhawan25! #ESSvIND”

In the match, India failed to dismiss Essex in the first innings as the encounter ended in a draw after a significant rain delay. Essex declared on 359 for eight as Paul Walter’s 75 kept India, who started their second innings 36 runs ahead, at bay.

The rain came with KL Rahul 36 not out and Rahane 19 not out after Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Matthew Quinn for 0 and Cheteshwar Pujara was caught behind for 23. On Day 1, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay scored half-centuries to take India to a respectable total of395.

India face England in the first of a five-Test series starting in Birmingham on Wednesday.
