Narine smashed 85 off 39 balls and picked up one wicket as KKR outclassed DC by 106 runs. Shreyas Iyer's KKR have climbed to the top spot with their third win of the IPL 2024. On Thursday, Gujarat Titans will meet Punjab Kings in match No. 17 of the IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Narine was named the Player of the Match after KKR crushed DC by 106 runs at Vizag. 

"Cricket is all about batting, so to contribute with the bat is pleasing but I also enjoy my bowling. (On batting down the order with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) We had sufficient batters, so opening was not needed then. At the end of the day, it is about what the team requires. Batting with Salt is good, he takes the pressure off me so it's good to bat with him. On a good wicket like that, we bowled well and were on the money, so a total team effort from us tonight," Narine said.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer said that he never thought Kolkata will post the second-highest total in IPL’s history at Vizag. The KKR captain also lauded Raghuvanshi for his breath-taking knock against Delhi Capitals. Raghuvanshi smashed three sixes and hit five fours in his entertaining knock. The 18-year-old was India's highest run-getter at the Under-19 World Cup in 2022. 

“No, it it didn't to be honest, we thought we will reach 210-220 but 270 was an icing on the cake. I said in a pre-match interview that Sunny's job is to take us off to a good start, if he doesn't get us off, that's also okay. (On Raghuvanshi) He was fearless from ball one, his mindset is phenomenal, the way he played his shots were pleasing to the eye. It's great to see all the bowlers stepping up at the right time and capitalizing on the opportunities. (On Harshit Rana's injury) I also don't know, on the field he was holding his shoulder. I have been in that situation before. Vaibhav Arora took crucial wickets for us, he stood up for us tonight,” Iyer said.

Starc opened his account after leaking more than 100 runs in the new season of the cash-rich league. KKR had to break the bank to sign senior pacer Starc for IPL 2024. Starc was roped in by KKR for a whopping sum of INR 24.75 crore at the IPL auction. The 2023 World Cup-winner bagged a brace of wickets as the KKR speedster removed his international teammates David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Starc took a dig at his Aussie teammates after opening his IPL 2024 account. 

“Not changing too much, you need a bit of luck in T20 cricket, the games come quick and fast. But we've been winning games, 3-0, we've been good with both bat and ball, that counts the most. Nothing much was said before the game, you take in a bit of luck here and there, tonight we were clinical with both bat and ball. Nice to have them in the pocket (on dismissing both Warner and Marsh), but the big win was more wicket. He was fantastic tonight (on Vaibhav Arora), used the short ball well, we centre around mainly on conversations in the nets. They keep asking questions and tonight he was very good,” Starc said after KKR thrashed DC by 106 runs.

The DC skipper also smashed his first 50 against the two-time winners. However, his captain's knock went in vain as DC lost the match by 106 runs. Reflecting on DC’s defeat to KKR at Vizag, skipper Pant asserted that his side was ‘just all over the place’ with the ball. KKR smashed the second-highest total against Pant’s DC to record their third win of the new season.

“We could have done better, and it is one of those days I feel. As a batting unit, we talked about going hard (after the target) and that's how we approach these games because it is better to be all-out trying to go for the total than not chase it down. It was quite loud (the venue) and couldn't see the timer on the screen (talking about the non-DRS moments) and there was some issue with the screen as well, there are some things you can control and some you cannot control, you just need to go with the flow," Pant said after the match.

Time to reflect better as a team, as an individual and come back strong in the next game. I am enjoying each and every day (talking about his fitness and comeback) and cricket has its own ups and downs, and at the same time you can try and give your best as an individual,” Pant added.
