Continuing his sensational run in the 50-over format on Tuesday, an in-form Shubman Gill slammed his fourth One Day International (ODI) century during the third and final meeting between India and New Zealand at Indore. The Indian opener matched Babar Azam's world record in the 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand. Joining forces with India captain Rohit Sharma in the 3rd ODI, opener Gill notched up his second century of the three-match series against Tom Latham-led New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium.

While veteran opener Rohit ended his century drought and matched Ricky Ponting's sensational feat in the 3rd ODI, his partner-in-crime Gill equalled Babar's world record after notching up his 4th century in the 50-over format. The Indian opener played a quick-fire knock of 112 off 78 balls. For the record, Gill has matched Babar's feat by scoring the most runs in a 3-match bilateral ODI series. Gill has accumulated 360 runs in the three-match series against New Zealand. Pakistan skipper Babar created the world record when the star batter smashed 360 runs against the West Indies in 2016.

Gill also eclipsed veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan with his 4th ODI ton in the high-scoring contest. The young opener is the quickest Indian batter to score four ODI centuries in the 50-over format. Gill achieved the special feat in 21 innings while Dhawan slammed four centuries in 24 innings for the two-time world champions.

Talking about the match, Rohit and Gill recorded the highest opening partnership against New Zealand at Indore. Rohit and Gill stitched an impressive 212-run stand in 26 overs for the hosts. Earlier, Gill had shattered multiple records in the series opener between India and New Zealand at Hyderabad. The 23-year-old became the youngest batter to slam a double century in ODI cricket at Hyderabad. Gill's 208-run knock off 149 balls guided India to a thrilling 12-run win over New Zealand in the 1st ODI.
