NEW DELHI: After lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung’s direction to get garbage dumps cleared twice a day, civic agencies have started implementation.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has constituted special teams, comprising of deputy commissioners, in all four zones to monitor the work done by concessionaires handling garbage disposal in their areas.
SDMC commissioner Puneet Goel instructed officials to make arrangements for lifting garbage from sensitive areas at least six times in a day.
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has identified 80 dhalaos in Shahdara South zone and 27 in North zone where the garbage is dumped from more than three wards.
On Tuesday, North Delhi Municipal Corporation commissioner Praveen Gupta also met the concessionaires responsible for maintaining dumps in five zones (out of six).
