NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old domestic help was found hanging from a ceiling fan under mysterious circumstances in her employer’s flat on Wednesday. No suicide note was recovered from the woman’s possession. Police suspect she was suffering from depression, the cause of which is yet to be discovered.

Police are waiting for her autopsy report to establish the exact cause of death. Savitri was employed by KC Dilip, who works as a manager in a Gurgaon-based private company. On Wednesday, Dilip was in office when Savitri arrived at the flat in Vidyut Apartments in Dwarka Sector 12 , for work. In the afternoon, Dilip’s wife left home to pick up their daughter from school in Dwarka Sector 10.

“When the woman returned with her daughter, they found the flat locked from inside. They rang the call bell and called out for Savitri but there was no response from inside,” said Surender Kumar, DCP (southwest). The woman alerted the security guards and caretaker who entered the flat through the kitchen window and found Savitri hanging.

“She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Her family members were informed and their statements were recorded,” the DCP said. A magisterial probe was ordered into the incident. Savitri’s family suspects she was murdered and then hanged, police sources said.
