NEW DELHI: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will now ensure door-to-door collection of e-waste and dispose it off scientifically. It has set up five collection centres at Kautilya Marg, Palika Niwas, Amrita Shergill Marg, Rajendra Prasad Road and Ashoka Road.

According to a senior NDMC official, the move is being implemented to save residents from health hazards caused by e-waste if left untreated.
“To put a robust e-waste collection and disposal system in place, we have arranged for free door-to-door pick up, established five collection centres and are empanelling agencies or start ups to encourage recovery of value from e-waste,” the official said.
Residents can either request free home pickup or drop these items at collection points and the items will be scientifically disposed off later to avoid any environmental hazard.
The public can access the service through official mobile app of the council – NDMC 311.
“With increasing use of electronic and IT related goods at domestic and commercial level, generation of e-waste has increased manifold. E-waste if left untreated and disposed unscientifically can create severe health hazards like damage to central and peripheral nervous systems, affect brain development and damage the kidneys,” the official said.
