Akon starts India tour in Gurgaon on birthday

The Smack that hitmaker, who will make his Bollywood debut in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Ra.One, is taking his India connection further by performing at HUDA Grounds in Gurgaon on April 16, which also happens to be his birthday.

R&B superstar Akon is all set to make his fans in India croon with him in his maiden concert in April.

The Smack that hitmaker, who will make his Bollywood debut in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Ra.One, is taking his India connection further by performing at HUDA Grounds in Gurgaon on April 16, which also happens to be his birthday.

"It's also my birthday so I have something very special planned for all my fans so you know it's going to be one big party," he added.

The ticket prices will be Rs 1,500 for the silver category and Rs 3,000 for the gold category.

He will then head to Bengaluru for his concert the next day.

"You heard it straight from me - New Delhi and Bengaluru get ready for my live show. The wait is finally over and now for the first time ever, I'm excited to bring my live show to India," Akon said in a statement.

The songwriter-producer says he will belt out the favourite numbers his fans at his two concerts in the country.

"India is a huge market for international artists and we aim to capitalise on this opportunity by identifying a confluence of musical styles, bringing together world class performers across genres on a single platform," said Sujit Jain, MD, Netsurf Entertainment.
