Armed Robbers strike MCD toll tax booths in Capital

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has in the last two four days been a victim of two separate robberies at their toll tax booths in various parts of the city.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has in the last two four days been a victim of two separate robberies at their toll tax booths in various parts of the city.

According to MCD officials, they have till now lost as much as Rs 3 lakh in revenues.

Police said the first incident happened on November 1, when three robbers on a motorcycle barged into MCD toll tax booth on Kaccha Naka in Palam Vihar area and looted Rs 94, 000 in cash.

The next incident occurred on Thursday when again three armed robbers on a motorcycle entered the Bakargarh Naka near Tikri border and looted

Rs 2 lakh in cash, along with manual tickets and monthly passes.

The police said they have registered a case in the matter and are investigating the it.

“It could be the handiwork of a particular gang, which is specifically targeting toll tax booths. We are looking into the case and investigating the matter. We have also rounded up known criminals who were earlier involved in similar crimes,” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.
