Relatives alleged the help had been ‘sacrificed’.

Police however claimed that 50-year-old Ram Beti was killed as she had overheard the accused discussing a plan to rob the house.

Police cane-charged the relatives and some journalists were also injured in the melee. Several people were detained.

The accused who were arrested have been identified as Kirtan (19), Inderjeet (19) and Roshan Nishad (20).

Kirtan had earlier worked at the house of Devender Kumar Jain, a resident of G Block in Green Park.

“Kirtan knew that the family was well off and during the day Jain’s mother Indu stayed alone at home. He and his two accomplices hatched a conspiracy to kill the woman and commit a robbery at the house,” said HGS Dhaliwal, DCP (south).

Beti, who had been hired only three days ago, was found murdered on the third floor of the Jain house on Sunday morning.

"Police are trying to shield the Jains as they are rich. My mother was a victim of human sacrifice,” said Beti’s son Jagdish.
