CBI books DD engineer for graft

Continuing its three-day old countrywide crackdown on “corrupt” government officials, the CBI booked a city-based superintending engineer of Doordarshan for allegedly owning assets worth several crores disproportionate to his income.

Continuing its three-day old countrywide crackdown on “corrupt” government officials, the CBI on Friday booked a city-based superintending engineer of Doordarshan for allegedly owning assets worth several crores disproportionate to his income.

The agency’s teams had carried out raids at four official/residential premises of the accused, A.K. Maheshwari, across Delhi, Noida and Mumbai.

During searches, documents and financial instruments pertaining to immovable and moveable properties were seized.

This includes three shops at Laxmi Nagar, two shops in Noida having goods worth around Rs 1.20 crore, a vacant plot in Noida, a house in Noida and a flat each in Dwarka, Mayur Vihar and Mumbai.

The teams also seized 800 grams of gold, 10 kg of silver, bonds and shares worth

Rs 9,00,000, two cars, Rs 50, 000 cash and papers of 18 bank and post office accounts in the name of accused and his family members.
