He is also an accused in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. Amin continues to be in jail though he is on bail in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir issued notice to Amin and listed the case for a hearing after four weeks. The CBI has challenged bail granted to Amin by the Bombay High Court on March 5 on medical grounds. The trial in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case was shifted to Mumbai on the apex court’s orders.

The CBI had recently filed a chargesheet against Amin in the Ishrat Jahan case before a special court in Ahmedabad. Besides Amin, several Gujarat police officers are accused in both the cases. Amit Shah, former Gujarat home minister and a close aide of chief minister Narender Modi, is also an accused in the case.
