Cheque-stealers' gang busted, two arrested

Delhi Police on Tuesday said they had busted a gang of fraudsters who used to steal cheques from drop boxes at petrol pumps and cash them by opening fake bank accounts using forged documents.

Delhi Police on Tuesday said they had busted a gang of fraudsters who used to steal cheques from drop boxes at petrol pumps and cash them by opening fake bank accounts using forged documents.

"Acting on a complaint, a special investigating team was formed and every move of the gang was tracked. Shailesh Choudhary, 37, and Sakishan Pal, 56, were arrested from Dwarka area of Delhi Friday on the basis of specific information," a senior police officer said.

"On interrogation, it was found that the duo had siphoned off an amount of nearly Rs.1.5 crore from 15 banks in Delhi and other states. They used to spend money on horse-racing and in living a luxurious life," the police officer added.
