Commuters have a tough time as trains crawl on Metro line

Metro services on the busy Line 3 (Dwarka-Noida, Dwarka-Vaishali) were affected on Friday afternoon due to power failure.

Service on the entire 56.4 km line was affected due to failure in getting supply from three power substations — Subhash Nagar, Dwarka and Indraprastha — at 12.48pm.
Passengers suffered as trains suddenly stopped moving. Even the air conditioners in the coaches stopped functioning.
A spokesperson of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said, "The problem persisted for about 5 minutes and after that trains ran uninterruptedly."
But thousands of commuters had a tough time because the delay had a ripple-effect. Commuters complained that trains on both the sides of the line ran at a very slow pace till 3pm.
"When the problem was rectified, trains were running slow and the frequency had decreased," a Metro official admitted.
This line (Blue line) has 50 stations and many of them, including Dwarka 21, Dwarka 9, Tilak Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Rajendra Place, Karol Bagh, Rajiv Chowk and Indraprastha were among those that were overcrowded because of the power failure. On June 8, a large number of Metro commuters had to face difficulties in reaching their destinations in the morning hours as a technical failure slowed down movement of the trains.
The overhead electrification system had developed some problems in Janakpuri area on the Dwarka-Noida-Vaishali Line at 9:15am.
