Coordination team set up in MHA to tackle fake currency

A special coordination group tocounter the menace of fake Indian currency has been formed in the Home Ministry to share intelligence amongst different security agencies, the government today said.

A special coordination group tocounter the menace of fake Indian currency has been formed in the Home Ministry to share intelligence amongst different security agencies, the government on Thursday said.

"One special Fake Indian Currency Note- FICN Coordination Group (FCORD) has been formed in Ministry of Home Affairs to share intelligence/information amongst the different security agencies of state/centre to counter the menace of circulation of fake currency within the country.

"The security features in the high value currency notes are being constantly upgraded. RBI has also strengthened the mechanism for detection of counterfeit notes by the banks," minister of state for home Jitendra Singh said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
