Court to decide Amar Singh's bail plea today

A Delhi court will today decide the interim bail plea of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, who was recently arrested and sent to Tihar Jail in the 2008 cash-for-vote case.

A Delhi court will today decide the interim bail plea of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, who was recently arrested and sent to Tihar Jail in the 2008 cash-for-vote case.

However, Singh who is suffering from a kidney-related ailment was last evening shifted to AIIMS after he complained of some medical complication.

Special judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal on Monday reserved her order after hearing senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who argued the case of the 55-year-old former Samajwadi Party general secretary.

Singh "is not going to die but is really sick," Jethamalani pleaded while seeking his bail.

"Put up (the application) for order tomorrow," the court directed as Jethmalani and public prosecutor Rajeev Mohan concluded their arguments on Monday.

The Tihar Jail authorities earlier submitted to the court the medical report on Singh's health, saying the results of some of the tests were still awaited and that they would be available only by Tuesday.
