Directing the setting up of a committee of three officers from the labour department, a Division bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan asked the committee to visit particularly the construction sites for Commonwealth Games projects and hold discussions with the workers.

"You must sensitise the workers. The Labour department and the Welfare Board, constituted by the government, are the competent authorities to hold camps for awarness of their rights at various sites," the bench said.

The Bench further directed the Delhi Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) to nominate three lawyers from its panel who would visit the sites at the time of holding camps by the competent authority to make the workers aware of their legal rights.

Regarding the welfare of the children of the workers, the Bench said "while the parents were engaged in work, their children must be given education" and asked the the Welfare Board to expeditiously consider the applications filed by the workers seeking schooling for their children.

The Court's direction came after an NGO alleged the government has failed to provide education to the workers' children and medical facilities for them.
