The sub-city in southwest Delhi has several pockets of dark or poorly-lit streets. But the one in Sector 6, from Shakti Chowk towards Lovely Chowk, is one of the most potentially hazardous. At 9:15pm, HT found that the stretch was completely deserted. Incidents of chain snatching, mobile snatching and harassment have been reported from this stretch.

“My mobile phone was snatched on this road in the afternoon. When I tried to chase those boys, they started throwing stones at me and passed lewd comments. We have stopped taking this road even if we travel by car,” said Shweta Singh, resident of a nearby housing society. Ravinder Dahiya, who runs a Mother Diary outlet on the road, said the stretch was not safe even during daytime. “I have been working here for over a year now. We have two or three police guards here but after 6 pm, even they leave.”
