The fire, described as a moderate one, started in the first floor of the building, close to a cinema hall in Chanakyapuri, at about 10.10 am and was brought under control after 40 minutes.

The fire was confined to one room and there was not much damage to property, said RC Sharma, chief fire officer of Delhi.

"The fire was of moderate range, but looking at the locality and the high rise building, we sent around 24 fire engines. Within 40 minutes, the fire was brought under control," Sharma said.

Though the exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, short circuit seemed to be the cause, he said.
