Foot overbridge collapse: Construction firm blacklisted

The Delhi government has blacklisted Hyderabad-based PNR Infra, the company that constructed the foot overbridge that collapsed near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi injuring 27 labourers, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said.

The Delhi government has blacklisted Hyderabad-based PNR Infra, the company that constructed the foot overbridge that collapsed near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi injuring 27 labourers, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Tuesday.

"The company has been blacklisted and a two-member committee has been set up to look into the matter," Dikshit told reporters.

The foot overbridge being constructed near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed, injuring 27 labourers, five of them seriously.

The opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, the biggest sporting event being hosted by India since the 1982 Asiad Games, will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Oct 3. The stadium, the showpiece of the event, will also host the closing ceremony.
