In the first case, nursery student Mohammad Afridi was found dead with deep stab wounds in the neck in a public park in northwest Delhi's Keshavpuram area around 8.30am.

The police said that the boy had gone shopping with his mother to a vegetable market near their house on Sunday evening. He went missing since then.

"He went to the market with his mother around 6pm and got lost in the rush," said Mohammad Kadir, Afridi's uncle.

In the second case, senior citizen Vimal Shah was found dead in her Jangpura Extension home, where she lived alone. Her son, Bharat Shah, had left for Singapore on October 17.

"On Monday morning, Bharat called his mother but didn't get any response. Sensing foul play, he called his neighbour who found her body in the bathroom," a police officer said.

The police suspect Shah's domestic help could be involved in the crime.

"Jagat, the domestic help, has been missing after the incident. We have detained his relatives and a hunt is on to nab him," a senior police officer said.
