Hindustan zinc Q3 profit down

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1289.6 crore during the corresponding quarter a year ago. Its net sales grew by 5.9% to Rs 2,746.8 crore against Rs 2,601.5 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

India’s largest zinc producer Hindustan Zinc Ltd on Friday reported an unexpected though marginal dip in net profit at Rs 1,273.6 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 on lower prices of the metal.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1289.6 crore during the corresponding quarter a year ago. Its net sales grew by 5.9% to Rs 2,746.8 crore against Rs 2,601.5 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
