Sunita, a 1995-batch IRS officer, holds the rank of an additional commissioner of Income Tax and was on deputation to the Serious Frauds Investigation Office (SFIO) under the corporate affairs ministry.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has brought Sunita back to the I-T fold and the apex body of the I-T department has now posted her as an officer on special duty (OSD) in the Delhi region under the chief commissioner of I-T.

According to I-T sources, Sunita was called back after her stipulated stint in corporate affairs ministry ended and no extension was given to her as the IT department is short of officers.
