Advocate Santosh Kumar who was engaged by Abdul Rehman, caretaker of the Jamia Nagar house where the Indian Mujahideen militants were living, moved an application saying "I have decided not to appear in this case before this court due to interest of the nation."
Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar allowed the counsel to withdraw from the matter.

Advocate Amarnath, who was hurriedly engaged by Rahman's daughter to replace lawyer Santosh Kumar, filed his power of attorney and sought an early hearing on the bail plea. The court fixed the bail application for hearing on September 24.

Rehman, the caretaker of the Batla House area of Jamia Nagar, was not arrested on charges of cheating and forgery as the lease deed nor were the tenant verification papers submitted by the terrorists found to be genuine.

He was also accused of forging the signature of the owner of the house.

As many as five terrorists allegedly involved in September 13 serial blasts in the Capital were arrested by the Delhi Police.

Rehman's son Zia-ur-Rehman and Shakir Nishar and Shakil apprehended yesterday have been remanded to 14 days' police custody. Two others, Mohd Saif and Zeeshan, were also arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell.
