MCD's education committee chairperson Mahender Nagpal claimed, "The Delhi government has only given us Rs 96 crore as the first instalment of the annual budget. It was supposed to release the second instalment of a similar amount by September, ahead of the start of the second half of the financial year."
Nagpal added, "Despite reminders, we have not yet received the second instalment. This has hampered our school-related activities," Nagpal said.
However, a senior officer in the directorate of education denied the MCD claim.
"It is completely false. The second instalment has been dispatched in September. It is the third instalment that is due and we have already sent the file to the Finance Department. It will be cleared soon."
