“We will see what formula the state government adopts for private schools in Delhi and proceed accordingly,” said NN Nayyar, Principal of Noida’s Apeejay School. “We cannot meet the demands of the pay commission without raising the fee,” said Nayyar.

Unlike private schools in Delhi, which have to go through the state government to increase tuition fee, schools in Noida and Ghaziabad are not bound by any circular from UP’s education department.

“The education department has not yet come out with any recommendations on fee hike in public schools. But we have to obtain a no-objection certificate if we raise fees beyond the 10 per cent cap that is allowed annually,” said Seema Jairath, principal of DLF Public School, Sahibabad.

National Progressive Schools Conference (NPSC), a body of 150 public schools in Delhi and NCR, along with other school organisations had demanded a 40-50 per cent hike in tuition fee for implementing the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.

“We are yet to take a decision on the percentage of hike. Let the Delhi government reveal its recommendations,” said DPS Society Additional Secretary, Renu Chaturvedi.
